    Hey, I’ll jump in here.

The release for Jazz SDX has apparently been delayed. They was some talk of it being debuted at Winter NAMM 2010, but it was not covered with any detail, in any of the videos.
There have been no reports as to when we should expect it, so we wait…

In the mean time, the Jazz EZX is an incredible tool. The drums sound awesome! The only way you would be disappointed is if they release the SDX version the day after you buy
the EZX (and that’s always a possibility with anything you buy).

Right now there are quite a few online retailers that offer discounts on the EZXs. Now’s a good time to pick it up.

The set looks a bit like a “jazz” set up. Could it be an additional kit for Jazz SDX? Maybe the reason they have not yet released it. That would be exciting!
Ok… maybe I’m just anxious for the Jazz SDX.

(awkward pause) er… how about those Platinum samples? Good stuff, huh? I would be interested in an Andy John as well as Jim Scott SDX.

Still, I think C&V is my number one.

I totally agree. The only comparison would be the world class (and discontinued) Scarbee Drums. Can I say other company names in the forum? I only mention it to say that C&V is unrivaled for my genre!

I went back and read the description for both Nashville EZX (which I own) and the Music City SDX. I realize that the snares are the same, except for the Rodgers. I think I’ll get this library, too!

I have asked the question of Toontracks (General Inquiry) and never got a straight response.   Also, would I be better off to buy one of the MIDI packs, rather than EZ Drummer?

without knowing the exact response you received the reason why you can’t get a straight answer is that there isn’t one. ALL our MIDI is designed primarily for our samplers and therefore are NOT general MIDI compliant (the opposite is almost true however).

That means that while you can edit them and make them work using a sequencer (or other MIDI editor), they are unlikely to play back properly in anything but a Toontrack sampler.

That said, that’s exactly why we developed EZplayer pro, so if you require a translator, not only to use Toontrack MIDI but most MIDI with proprietary format for use with another drum sampler then MIDI packs + EZplayer pro is the way to go.

More info can be found here:
    http://www.toontrack.com/product/ezplayer-pro/#2

    Dar,

Have you checked out the product pages for EZDrummer, EZPlayer and Solo? A lot of answers are waiting for you there. One of the most important things to consider is that there IS a list of tested and compatible sequencers, listed on the product page for EZDrummer.

As Rogue pointed out the midi files for Toontrack products are designed to work for Toontrack drums libraires. So if you want to use Toontrack midi loops you’ll need to buy Toontrack drums (EZDrummer). If you want to use Toontrack loops with other general midi drum libraires, you’ll need a converter. That’s where EZPlayer comes in.

Have a look at the http://www.toontrack.com/product/ezdrummer-2/#4 and make sure that your sequencer is on the list of compatible sequencers.

EZDrummer is a fantastic tool. Best of luck and happy music making.

    Hi Dar

If ALL you need is midi loops, then you can just buy one of the Midi Packs that Toontrack offers. (Not to mention there are plenty of companies that offer midi files and drum loops).

But, EZDrummer does include a selection of midi drum loops that you can drag and drop into your preferred DAW and trigger any sound you’d like.

    Hope this helps.

    Scott

I looked at the preview videos, this is some awesome stuff. Seems to be very thorough, as well. I also checked out your Logic Pro vids. You really have a good thing going on there.
I learned quite a bit just from the introduction. I plan to purchase a copy of these.

    Fantastic work.

It’s a Toontrack DAW!!! I knew it. You’ve got Solo, you got a mixer inside S2, you’ve got the Drum Tracker and EzPlayer. Combine them all and you got the next big surprise!! Did I guess correctly or at least close?

Hey I had the very same issue with my DIY ekit and the trigger IO. I thought I had wired the piezos wrong. So I took the ekit pieces to the local music shop.
I decided (after trying it with a roland drum brain) to sell the trigger IO and purchase the Roland TCM 6. Sorry this wasn’t more helpful. There are a few Trigger IO users on the forum who seem to have had success with
setting up the unit to trigger properly. Good luck and happy music making.

The biggest difference is the “noise”: The mesh heads on an ekit are silent and will allow you to hear only the triggered samples. This is great for late night playing!

I have been on the market for an e-drum kit for 2 years. I am resolved NOT to pay the full price for the top name brand ekits, because
    I… don’t have the money.

But I did build my own edrums and now I am looking for a “brain.” If only I had a brain.

Has anyone ever used regular drum heads and just muffled them?
