If you search youtube you’ll see quite a few people who use the Yamaha ekits.
In the end it all comes down to how it feels to you or the drummer playing it. I am in the process of buying an ekit. I’ve played quite a few and the higher end kits, (like Roland, Hart and R.E.T) even though they are pricey, offer a much more fulfilling drum experience.
The major differences are in the # of zones per pad, the feel of the head and the sensitivity of each drum. Also the Hi Hat programmablity is a key factor for serious users.
Having said all that… yeah the DTXplorer works and may suit you fine.
