Try asking the question is the vdrums.com/forum. You might find an answer there.

Does S2.0 support psitional sensing? I haven’t read anything about it for this library.

Yes, there are centre and edge samples available that respond to the CC data sent by compatible modules

“Edge” samples, are not the same as “rim” samples? Where can I read this info?

I found one. It was 1″x1″x1/16″ I’ll try it.

    Gastric,

I’ve been reading your posts in a few other forums. How’s the acoustic conversion coming?
I just bought a GP drum kit and I am going to attempt to convert it.
My concerns were that the 14″ snare, 16″ floor tom and the 22″ kick would be to large to properly trigger.
Have you sorted through the re-triggering and the ghost notes issues?

I can’t find the u channel crossbar. (Home depot specialist never heard or saw anything like it!)

Anyway could I use an aluminum L bracket?

The short answer is “yes” you can get them to work together.

You should read some of the posts in the E-drum section of this forum. There a re a ton of tips and some really good info from othewr users.

The answers regarding which works better is subjective. Dependes on your needs. From what I’ve read, Roland gear seems to be the way to go if you have the $$$.

Couldn’t you use a set of pintech practice cymbals?

Question #2: all of the ekits that I see have rack toms (no toms mounted on the kick), Is that by chance or by design? I was thinking about buying a cheap kit and converting it. Do I need to put the toms on a rack?

Okay, that makes sense. How easy is it to create a 2 zone snare? I haven’t seen a plan for that…

Let’s say the midi brain is an Alesis Trigger IO… how do you “DIY” a 3 zone snare?

If you search youtube you’ll see quite a few people who use the Yamaha ekits.

In the end it all comes down to how it feels to you or the drummer playing it. I am in the process of buying an ekit. I’ve played quite a few and the higher end kits, (like Roland, Hart and R.E.T) even though they are pricey, offer a much more fulfilling drum experience.

The major differences are in the # of zones per pad, the feel of the head and the sensitivity of each drum. Also the Hi Hat programmablity is a key factor for serious users.

Having said all that… yeah the DTXplorer works and may suit you fine.
