A good reason you might plan on *not* using separate takes is if you intend to pull it off live with only one guitarist and no backing track.
I’m lucky enough to have an Axe-Fx and so my first thought would be to run through two different amp sims, with one slightly delayed — if that doesn’t get me the results I want, there’s any number of other slight changes to the sound I could make to the second channel.  No matter what though, it won’t sound *quite* like actual double/quad/etc-tracking.

re: multiple pad #13s, etc. — that confused me at first too, but there *is* a reason for those numbers; they correspond to the numbered Microphone channels in the mixer (this is not easily apparent in the Superior interface vs. the EZdrummer interface).

Also the actual pad numbering (“Xtra 8”, “Xtra 12”, etc. is (after taking General MIDI into consideration) in the order of the default piano keyboard layout).  On your MIDI keyboard, Xtra 9 will be on an ‘A’ note with Xtra 10 being on an ‘A#’, Xtra 11 being on a ‘B’, etc.

I assume the layout in EZdrummer itself is for reasons of sonic similarity and visual symmetry.

(And on the main topic of easier browsing… I agree with that one. 🙂  I don’t know if Electronic will get an update to address that, but for Number 1 Hits, I think the similar concept was executed in an easier-to-navigate way.)

Further down in the product copy, where it’s listing a bunch of features, that is clarified…

7,000 sound files at 16-bit/44.1kHz (equivalent to 5GB of uncompressed WAV files)

Toontrack has their own compression algorithm, so what you’re seeing at 881 MB is still compressed.

Also, I had no idea it was selling for that cheap there on Black Friday!  That’s a freakin’ good deal!  Once you start using it, I hope you’ll find that… it’s not the size of the library that matters….

While Chris is probably right, I do think it’s a very nice wishlist! 🙂
