OK…I was able to get Custom & Vintage to work by doing the above…simply copying the entire contents of the downloaded update over to the existing folder where the previous version was installed…and that seems to work. I no longer get the “Need Update” pop-up in SD3 for the Custom & Vintage SDX. Not sure if doing it like this screws anything up…but we’ll see. Still the updater needs to be fixed.

Aside from that, I now have a couple of other packs where the updates have no effect. Specifically The Classic EZX and also the Pop! EZX.
Unlike the Custom & Vintage issue, the updates to these two DO install just fine…BUT…they have no effect. When I try to open them in SD3, I still get the “Need Update” pop-ups.
When I look at the files that are in the Content folders of these updates…all the files are very old…from 2012-14…so it’s no wonder that SD3 still keeps saying “Need Update” even after I installed the “updates”.

Can you guys please go through all the EZX/SDX installers you have posted and check which are actual *updates* that will work with SD3.
It’s pretty tedious as it is having to download all these huge sample packs and updates, and then install them, only to find out they don’t woprk at all or they don’t actually “update” so that SD3 recognizes them.
It’s just frustrating the amount of time that is spent just trying to download, install and update to get SD3 all happy. I spent ALL DAY and half the night screwing around with this…some updates working, others not…more downloads, more attempts….etc…etc.

Also…provide a very precise clear list in the FAQ section which EZX packs (if any) simply will never work with SD3 because of their old/1st version code. I know there must be a few…but it sucks having to find out through trial and error.

I have to agree…their decision to stop offering boxed versions of these very large programs and sample libraries is totally LAME!!!
Toontrack took the cheap way out….so once you pay for a product…you the customer are now stuck with trying to download it.

People spending days to download things in chunks, one module at a time, spending hours and hours per attempt…
…it would have been faster to ship out boxed versions.

The simple solution…provide BOXED versions again!
You guys aren’t selling 20MB plugins here that can be downloaded in 2 minutes time.

At least then we can order the boxed version, and go about our business for a few days until it’s delivered instead of spending countless hours trying to download MASSIVE amounts of data over the internet. Those that want to download can still do so.
With a boxed version, if your system goes down, you already have all the discs for reinstall…otherwise if you lose your downloaded files…you have to go through this process all over again.

Be happy…I’m only getting 7+ Mb/s…this is such tedious BS having to download Gigs and Gigs of data, instead of being able to buy a BOXED $#@% version!

This really sucks Toontrack…it’s easy on you guys ‘cuz you don’t have to generate physical product, so you stuck it to your customers.
We’re not talking a few MBs or even a Gig or two…and if the connection crashes or you get a corrupt download (twice already on two packs) you get to start ALL OVER.

    See the S3 FAQ

    https://www.toontrack.com/faq/1311697-2/

Regarding the sound library; it was recorded by award-winning engineer George Massenburg at Galaxy Studios in Belgium. It also includes approx. 350 vintage and classic drum machine sounds to layer as you choose.

One item missing from the FAQ…at least I didn’t see any mention of it….
Will our current/old EZX packs work in SD3 the way the work in SD2…or will SD3 only support SD2 SDX packs…?

OK…but that link just send a message to Tech Support.
This is not a technical issue…it’s a Customer Service/Sales issue.

Yes, I do believe the newer EZXs are download only. I believe it is for an economical and environmental reason.

NO…that doesn’t appear to be correct.
I’ve just seen some of the very newest EZX packs (marked as “New”) currently available as boxed versions.

So it’s puzzling why some real old EZX packs are still available as boxed…and some of the newest ones as boxed…but some that came out last year, I can only find as downloads.

Is there a more clearer answer from the sales department please…?

    Thanks

    Hi Scott

While you are at it…I have some inactive authorizations in my expansion packs…I will not be reactivating them, so they can be deleted.

    Thanks
    Happy Holidays!

I’ve used X-Drums for adding various elements to a kit, including cymbals…but I’ve not tried X-Drums plus adding new microphone assignments.
Thanks for the tip. I will give that a try.
It’s something to occasionally, just to break up the same-old panning scheme on some mixes, sand when combined with the stock OH panning on other mixes, you get some variety when listening to several songs in a row.

But why don’t they just say so in their promo’s ?

Because they want to sell EZD2 since their bigger market is made of songwriter/musicians who want it more in a preset, ready-to-play format, which EZD2 is…and SD is not.
I too am an SD user, and while I do own EZD1 and a bunch of EZX packs, II just use them with SD and I never use EZD1, nor do I plan on ever buying EZD2….and yes, I too wish they would focus a bit more on new SD packs, but they cost more, and it’s easier and more cost/profit effective to just go EZX packs which are b oth EZD2 and SD compatible. Wink
