    Hi,

while I’m not familiar with the Alesis Surge kit, I am pretty certain that you need to configure the drum module to not have the internal sounds active if you use the module as your sound card/audio interface. In other drum modules, there’s a LOCAL=OFF setting.
Apart from that, you need to go into the Audio/MIDI Setup of EZdrummer 3 and select the surge as the Output for Audio and make sure there’s a check mark in the Surge MIDI input box.

    OK,

are the libraries on an internal or external drive?
Have you run any diagnostics on the drive?

    HiRudy5678,

the OP had problems with EZdrummer 2, so I would say your problems are not related.
I would suggest you start a new thread where you also list your hardware MIDI connection and if this is the standalone or as a plug-in in a host.

    Hi,

could you please post a screen shot of your Audio Device Settings in the EZmix2 standalone? Both Audio Device and In channels?
    Which DAW are you using?

    Hi,

it could be other processes running at the same time, the hard drive, etc. Have you changed or updated anything else recently? Some kind of maintenance running in the background or AntiVirus?
How long did it take earlier? When did it change? Have you rebooted?

For me it takes a couple of seconds to switch Presets but I have an SSD drive on a pretty new MacBook Pro.

    Hi schtinkhousen,

as stated above, not all (in fact very few) DAWs allow for media to be dragged from the host to a plug-in, while the opposite is no problem.

This means that you have to export the Audio (WAV) that you wish to use with the Bandmate from your DAW to a convenient place, e.g. the Desktop and drag from there to the Bandmate drop area. The same goes for any MIDI you would want to use from your DAW project with the EZD3 Bandmate.

If you use the same place for your exports and leave that Explorer/Finder window open if you wish to Bandmate several files, it’s a fairly quick workflow.

    Hi,

unfortunately I can’t do it in one go either but it takes less time for me than for you, so I went ahead and cleared them.

    Hi John3302,

we strongly advise against moving .dll files around, since it breaks any updaters. Check that your host is set to pick up VST2 plug-ins as well, since EZmix2 is not VST3.

    Hi Glenn,

the order shouldn’t matter. You could uninstall the EZD2 software package and reinstall the EZD2 Core Library as you wrote.
I am a bit puzzled by the ‘greyed out’ part, though. When you have re-installed, could you please post a screen shot of what you mean?

    Hi,

which version of the Product Manager are you running?

Have you closed the PM and rebooted your computer before trying again?

    Hi Patrick,

I am sorry I didn’t catch that right away. I rarely use the VST3 version at all since I work mainly on macOS, which means I tend to use the AU version even if I’m using cross-platform hosts like Reaper, Studio One Live or FL Studio.

Anyways, there are are some significant changes to VST3, compared to VST2, which in Steinberg’s view is for the better and for a lot of users and developers is worse. MIDI Program Change is such a thing. I stumbled upon several conversations regarding this, e.g. this one with developers and Arne from Steinberg:
    https://forums.steinberg.net/t/vst3-and-midi-cc-pitfall/201879

But had Program Change worked for you, as it does with other plug-in formats, the Program Change number would have been ‘8’ to select ‘Soft Ballad’. You still would have had to select the right Bank for the Library first, which depends on how many libraries you have installed. In my case the ‘Electric R-MK I’ library would be: MIDI CC#0 (Bank MSB), 9.
In your case: MIDI CC#0 (Bank MSB), 1.

Well, you’re partly right, I do not have an old version but I totally missed that this is different in the VST3 version of the plugin. In Standalone, AU and AAX it works as I have described. I am not sure why the VST3 is limited this way but there has to be a good reason, it is not a mistake or bug.
