Close, how about a dedicated part of the forum, where each library is delineated somehow. Rule is, one preset per thread, with descriptive title.

That way, I can just go through the C&V section for instance, and ignore sections for libraries that I don’t have.

One preset, plus any variations on that preset per thread, plus a descriptive title keeps it even easier to find stuff, and keeps discussions relevant, rather than dumping everything in one thread.

That would be fairly large in size perhaps, but really useful. Oh, and would need to allow small attachments, just like in the support section.

Thanks wagz! I tuned the snare back up on the Phat snare preset. I think it’s much closer now.

Would be nice if there were a way here where we could upload presets and keep them categorized by sample library.

OK, spent some more time trying to get the approximate sounds in the examples. Keep in mind, I’m not a pro, and the best I can do is get close on some accounts. Sometimes you can try too hard to turn one sound into another and completely destroy what you have. I hope I did not do that.

For wagzisnotadrummer. The Beck sound approximation.

    For romanp. Funky vinyl approximation.

Right click. Save As. Drop them in the Custom and Vintage combined presets folder.

That preset is probably closer to Romanp’s examples than wagzisnotadrummer’s.

There’s a snare in C&V that is pretty close to what wagz wants – a big fat one, pretty dry, very little ring but substantial snare. I might try another preset for that.

Try this combined preset. In the spirit of the request here, my attempt anyway.

    http://www.jaycoover.com/stuff/Tight_n_Dry_CV (like romanp’s funk examples)
Save in your C&V combined presets folder.

To take it really old school, go to the out 1/2 channel and move both panners to center 0 (mono)

Not my area, but I am curious.

Let’s say you have EZKeys running on a computer at the highest resolution possible. Even then, I think adding resolution just makes EZKeys smaller.

    Take a screenshot.

What more do you want? Put it in Photoshop and interpolate it to your 300 dpi.

No higher resolution source might exist to start from unless it was taken from a vector, right? I’d think that would be hard to come by for something like this.

EZX’s are pre-processed…whereas SDX expansions are pretty raw.

Except that SDX’s also come with combined presets or allow for rolling your own, making them either pre-processed or raw or processed per your own specifications, depending on your inclination.

SDX’s come with more samples generally. Are bigger. More velocities and variations, round robins, more kit pieces. Are 24 bit instead of 16 bit. Frequently have add-on preset packs where EZX’s usually do not.

However, don’t be afraid of the EZX’s. Absolutely nothing wrong with them, and are typically lighter on computer memory resources.

You shouldn’t be paying more than about $80 for an SDX. Additionally, they will have specials frequently. I’ve gotten them for as little as $60 apiece.

I don’t think that fuzz is due to the bitrate of the sample. I can hear it when it’s compressed as well.

It’s present on the Udu too, but not on everything.

Just spending my first day with EZKeys and I’d couple of things on the next MacOS version.

Enable Copy/Paste, both in the pulldown menu and on the keyboard
Enable Delete from the delete key

They’re bread and butter Mac UI stuff. Yes, there are workarounds (eg, right-click to get to delete) but the Mac conventions already has these built-in.

Clearly the OP is a native English speaker, yet has somehow managed to turn that into something http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTvNIxeipqs.

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

There’s a ton of motown in the EZDrummer Pop/Rock base library under 4/4 straight and 4/4 shuffle. Something like 1200 grooves.

Pop! is kind of hybrid acoustic/electronic, mostly acoustic. Think Pink, OneRepublic, Maroon 5.

Electronic and #1 Hits are pretty close in genre. Different kits and different MIDI, but same genre.

Also, try going into the straight up rock 4/4 section of the EZDrummer included beats.

If it doesn’t hit hard enough:
    1. Tweak the velocity knob up a bit on the groove screen
    2. Go into the mixer and do a little tweaking. Common problem might be where the hihat sits. Adjust that accordingly. Rinse, repeat.
    3. The hihat might be almost there, but not quite. You might try moving the hihat hits to a slightly more open or closed articulation.

    …some easy stuff to try.

ZZTop should be fairly easy to nail with what you already have.

When you click a keyboard button in Kontakt, can you hear a drum sound?

When you click a keyboard button in the Reaper MIDI editing window for this track, can you hear a drum sound?

I did find that with both EZPlayer and Kontakt on the same track, I had to either bypass EZPlayer or set the mapping to Thru when playing the converted MIDI file from the host MIDI track to get it to play, because it is in effect double re-mapping it. Auditioning MIDI directly from EZPlayer worked fine.

When you drag it from EZPlayer to the host, it’s converting from TT format to NI (GM) format. Then when you play that host MIDI track it goes again through EZKeys, which it seems it’s converting TT to GM again or just muting it, so in effect messes it up and this is where I hear nothing.

Seem like the manual is incomplete.

I would actually consider setting it up like with Cubase and having one track for EZPlayer and one track for Kontakt. The EZPlayer MIDI track feeds into the Kontakt MIDI track, allowing you to audition correctly. The difference is then that you drag the MIDI from EZPlayer onto the Kontakt track, correctly converting it, but then it doesn’t go through EZKeys again, it goes straight into Kontakt. This method would make it so that you didn’t have to keep switching EZPlayer off and on as you go back and forth.
