Placing your samples on an external drive shouldn’t have anything to do with the 32 bit problem. And I do agree that you should use 64 bit, why only use a part of all that juicy 16 GB memory? :) EZmix 2 will run in 64 bit mode.

I will try to answer your questions :)

    1. The 32 bit memory problem can occur in some hosts because when deleting a track, the host won’t remove the instance of the plugin. Try to restart Logic and see if the problem still occurs.
    2. Please see https://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-trigger-the-ezdrummer-2-percussion/ to read more about the percussion pads.
    3. To be able to record MIDI events that are triggered in EZdrummer 2 (for example by clicking a drum) you should enable MIDI out from the main menu in the top right corner of EZdrummer 2.

If you run Logic Pro in 64 bit mode the memory won’t be a problem – http://www.logic-cafe.com/lc/index.php/running-logic-pro-in-64-bit-mode.

But if you (for some reason can’t run in 64 bit mode):
You had one instance of EZdrummer 2 and wanted to load a second instance? Or was it your first (and only) instance that gave you that error message?
I am asking because this error dialogue should be shown when there are more instances of EZdrummer 2 than a 32 bit system’s memory can handle, to avoid system crashes.

The hosts (Cubase, Logic etc) won’t “share” what time signature they are set to, so plugins can’t know that unfortunately. The BPM is shared though, so when you set that in the host, the plugins (EZkeys, EZdrummer etc) will adopt to that!

This is correct. You should, however, check the latency you’ll get with that setup. Generally speaking, Mac laptops seem to offer pretty low latencies (the time between the hit of a drum and when the actual sound is heard). If you’ll run on a PC, it’s possible that you’ll need an external sound card that will offer lower latency. But this is just a guess, you should try it out first. You can always try the 10 day free demo to start with!

    Hello

You can set your host to any time signature and the EZkeys will follow (if Follow Host button is activated). The best matching signature to use is probably 6/8 in EZkeys in that scenario.

This problem is noted and we will see what we can do about it in the future.

Hello folks, thanks for the thoughts. I can answer some of them for you:

    1. Is there a particular scenario where this is needed, or is it a “nice to have” feature? Basically, it’s a locked locations since MIDI files takes (almost) no space, it’s possible to mount User Libraries and User MIDI is directly accessible by right clicking root folder and choosing “Open in Finder” (Mac)

    2. You can drag and drop the MIDI file straight out from EZdrummer 2 to a folder, the host’s track or any other destination.

    7. This is beyond our control (unfortunately). The position of the time header is only reported to plugins when the time line is playing in the host.

    8. This is, also, beyond our control. Generally – hosts can start and stop plugins but plugins can’t start and stop the host.

All ideas that are posted on this forum are noted, so keep ’em coming Smile

There are several grooves that are built around a standard 4/4 “basic rock” beat. For example:
    EZdrummer 1 Pop/Rock MIDI/44 Straight 50-140BPM/PopRock/PopRock Grooves/Groove 09/
In there, all the Hats 4th are using the beat he played in the end of the youtube video.

I found this, and many others, by using Tap2Find in EZdrummer 2. Hope this helps!

I would go for a 49 key keyboard, since with those you can still play chords and melodies with both hands. Fewer keys tends to be too small to play two handed on. I actually own a one octave keyboard (13 keys) which I use for creating beat leads (house, techno etc) but for piano I always use at least 49 :)

A side note for EZdrummer 2 users; if you have a MIDI block that comes from EZdrummer in your host, you can use that MIDI in the Tap2Find window to find matching beats. Simplest way is to drag it to the Drop Zone (if your host supports drag and drop).
If you haven’t altered it, one of the 100% matches will be the groove. Right click on it and select “Show in Browser” and you’ll see the groove in it’s folder structure.

If you have a MIDI block on EZdrummer 2’s song track that you want to find the origin of, right click it, select “Find/Show in Browser” and it will be revealed.

Just a tip of the day Wink

Thanks for the thoughts and ideas. The sync to host problem will be fixed in the next update (which is currently being beta tested). The metronome volume idea is noted!

You can just cut up that 4 bar segment (so it becomes a 4 bar block). Double click it to access Edit Play Style. Right click on the kick drum and chose “Remove MIDI”. You can also do it by turning the amount knob to 0.
