Glad to be of help. One more detail, if you want to know what note to transpose your MIDI notes to – if you RIGHT CLICK on any drum or percussion instrument (in the Latin Kit for example) and then click the “DETAILS” button, it will show you exactly which notes trigger which articulations or sounds on that instrument.
So, for example, let’s say you copied and pasted the snare drum hits into a new MIDI track as suggested above, but those hits are all on MIDI note “D1” and you are looking to hit the CONGA drum. So you RIGHT CLICK on the Conga Drum (or use the little arrow button to show the drop down menu) and you click the DETAILS button. Here, you see that the “Right Open” Articulation is note “G6” so you select all of your hits and transpose them all to G6. Conga!
But then you decide you don’t really like that idea after all, so you decide that maybe a Cajon hit might be a better choice. Just right click on the Cajon and click the DETAILS button again. Now you can click through all of the articulations for the Cajon. Say you settle on the “Left Slap Mid” because it sounds “snare like” but also has some depth and ethnic flavor. That articulation is F#1 – just transpose all of your hits on the Latin track to F#1.

Welcome!
You cannot replace just any drum with any other drum, unfortunately. You can replace a snare with any other “snare” from any other kit, but you can’t replace a snare with a floor tom or high hat or something.
What you CAN do is put TWO instances of EZD2 into your project on two separate MIDI tracks, one for the drum set and one for Latin Percussion.
Once you drag the MIDI over to your DAW from EZD, you can highlight all of the snare hits on the drum track and copy and paste them to the second MIDI track, and transpose them to the appropriate MIDI note to hit the drum you want to hit. Then delete those same snare hits from your drum set track.

“The midi file auditioning process has become somewhat cumbersome in this regard as I have to constantly drop the files into edit/play section”
Although I LOVE all of the expanded features of EZD2, I have to agree here that adjusting the overall velocity, and being able to preview at 1/2 or 2x speeds right in the browser, without having to move the parts to the song timeline really seem to slow down what is an otherwise awesome workflow. Please consider.

In this demo, I also like the NY Vol 3 the best, but the Rock Warehouse kit comes in a close second.
To me, “Metal” and “Hard Rock” based kits put a lot of emphasis on the initial impact of the drum, and they sound very “splaty” and harsh to me in certain contexts. The NY kit sounds a little more dimensional, with the timbres of the drums themselves a little more present.
Just an opinion .02

That’s cool. I went ahead got a very good deal from an authorized dealer.
Let me know if you are interested in the Custom & Vintage, New York Studios II, or EVIL DRUMS SDX packs, as I no longer use Superior Drummer.

In my humble experience, using one’s ears is the best judge as to what processing needs to be done to make a particular instrument fit into a particular track.

It’s been several days, I assume you no longer want to sell this or possibly trade?

Are you trying to do this with the standalone versions of the EZ Products?
Because if you just use the plugin versoins within Reaper, Reaper will act as your “master clock” and synch both products to the project in Reaper, all while allowing your drum track and key track to remain fully editable within the EZ Products themselves.

EZ Keys is definitely a “shortcut” to getting some backing tracks down, but IMO everything, even EZ Drummer still requires a little bit of MIDI work in the DAW after the fact. If for no other reason than to make it a little more “original” . If you find the MIDI to be too limiting, you might want to consider a couple of things:
1. There is a lot of flexibility in the built in tools if you really dig in. You can cut phases up into very small pieces, use the velocity and quantize tools to adjust the timing and dynamics, and combine different phrases together, then use the “merge” function to create a completely new, fully encapsulated phrase.
2. Here is a third party that offers lots of MIDI for EZKeys: http://piano-loops.com/

Yes, the MIDI does indeed WORK with EZ Keys, and it will play the “string part” in any expansion…it just won’t sound like strings UNLESS the instrument it is triggering provides a string sound. MIDI has been around for more than 30 years, and most people involved with using MIDI would understand that a “MIDI pack” only provides the MIDI data, and does not provide any sounds whatsoever, it sounds like you might be new to using MIDI and computer based instruments, and so the difference between a MIDI pack and an actual expansion got confusing. The SOUND is dependent upon whatever instrument is being triggered by the data. EZ Keys EXPANSIONS are actual INSTRUMENTS that have sounds, like the Mellotron, Vintage Upright, Electric Grand, etc… But the “MIDI packs” are just MIDI packs, that only include the MIDI performance data.
The good news is that you can still use the pack you bought by dragging the parts from EZ Keys to the timeline in your favorite DAW or recording software and then assigning those string parts to any VSTi you have that has string sounds. MIDI data is pretty universal, so you can use those performances with other instruments that you already own. If you still don’t like MIDI pack you bought, Toontrack does allow it to be re-sold and I might be interested in buying it from you for $19. Toontrack has a specific policy regarding re-sale and license transfers though.
Let me know if you are interested.

and at what cost would you think an individual kit piece should be priced?
would a crash cymbal or a kick drum be priced higher than a rack tom?just wonderin’…
It might be beneficial to package them in sets, like 4 different snares or a full set of toms, or a “EZ ride expansion pack 1” “EZ ride expansion pack 2” etc…
If they were in “packs” that included more than one drum, I would think that a $15 price point might be attractive, individual drums might be $5-$10 if they were something really, really special.
Thoughts?
