I have to admit guys, I was crying like a baby to for a toontrack bass especially after I got Ezkeys! But this is what I found and this sounds fantastic and works great… http://amplesound.net/en/index.asp

    Cheers, Jeff

I have one of Amplesound’s Guitar VSTi’s and they do indeed sound excellent! I think what most people are looking for is something that generates bass patterns that follow key changes – Amplesound’s guitars actually DO have strumming patterns and a built in pattern sequencer to do this kind of thing with guitar, but I wasn’t aware that their bass instruments did that – is that what you are saying, Jeff? Do they actually generate basslines? I’m just curious, as I can see that it has a TAB reading function, but I can’t see something like what they have in the guitar instruments for patterns/sequences.

Currently, the best option for something like this IMO is still “Broomstick Bass” – it is outdated, and the bass sounds can leave a lot to be desired, BUT you can record the MIDI output on another track and trigger whatever VSTi you want with it. Of course, because each VSTi has different ways of triggering slides, different sounds on different velocity layers, etc. You will still have to do some MIDI editing and massaging, but it is a great idea generator.

ANother way to go about it might be to use Band in a Box. Put in your chord progression and let it generate a bassline. Export the MIDI and import that into your DAW. None of these solutions is as easy as using EZ Drummer or EZ Keys – but they can provide good results in a very short amount of time.

I think your best bet is to find some MIDI files of Pink Floyd songs and import the drum part and chop it up in your DAW as you need it to be and then use EZD2 as your VSTi for drum sounds.

Nick Mason’s ACTUAL kit is available for BFD (a competing drum program) they also offer a 70’s Alan Parson’s kit and Neil Peart’s ACTUAL kit as well. If you are looking for the actual kits/sounds of those drummers – they are available there.

I was too busy noticing that poor Modest Mussorgsky seems to be getting the “ssogorski” treatment on the blackboard (I’m assuming that is the name they were trying to spell…)

They do. When I go to my account and my products page, things I DON’T own, are slightly greyed out and faded.

    I see.

Alternately, you can “Star” the grooves you like in the Search tab (making them “favorites”) and then sort them by favorites by just clicking on the star at the top of that column, and then dragging over only the ones you really want to keep for a particular song into the user area.

Also, although you might not be able to change the names in the way you would like, you also have the option of using the color codes.

A workflow suggestion: Create a new folder for each song you are working on in the user area as a repository for all the MIDI that you might want to use for that song.

    Hello,

If you right click on the part, you will see a menu. Under the “Find” option, you can tell it to locate the file in the browser – so you can immediately find the “source” file again.
If you use the “Add to User MIDI” option, it will allow you to rename the file to whatever you choose.

    I hope that helps.

    Hello,

EZ Drummer isn’t really set up to record AUDIO, it records MIDI data. To do what you are trying to do, you need a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) type of software that records audio and MIDI – like SONAR, Reaper, Studio One, ACID, Logic, Cubase, Mixcraft, etc…

Using that kind of software you would use EZ Mix as a PLUGIN on your guitar track and EZ Drummer as a plugin on another track.

For those looking for “EZ Guitar” – it looks like Native Instruments has answered your prayers:

    Hello –
The answer is Yes, and No, and it depends on what you are asking.

No matter how “fancy” the part it, every block you drag into the song window on EZ Keys has the chord names displayed above it, so you can see the progression, so if you like a certain progression, you can do a couple of things. The first one is that the core EZ Keys comes with blocks of just straight chords, so you could just drag over the plain chord blocks and assign them to the chords you liked in the “fancy” bit -basically creating a simple chord progression. With EZ Keys, every chord and block is customizable using the popup chord wheel selector, so doing what you want to do would be pretty easy. But if you are asking if you can take a part and have EZ Keys simplify it FOR you, then, the answer is “no” – it will take a little input on your part, but it wouldn’t be hard to do at all.
