There’s almost no way to know what went wrong (if anything) without any discussion of the steps that you took before,
durung or after you “started to record in Logic X”. You’ve asked a very broad-spectrum general question.

Did you record-enable the tracks in Logic?
Did you record-enable the song-tracks in EZDrummer2 and/or EZKeys?

I can’t speak to your questions about e-drums, but regarding the optional SSD,
it CAN be used as an external HD to go back and forth between your PC and laptop.

And as far as the 230GB SD3 sound library, you do not have to install the entire 230GB.
The library is constructed in such a way that you can download & install it in increments.
I believe that there are a few other threads that address some of these particulars…

No, you are not ‘stuck’. You can remove an authorization from a computer and authorize its replacement.
Toontrack allows you do this yourself for up to 4 authorizations
after which you need only ask them to ‘do a reset’ to reopen your unused authorization slots.

I’m not sure why you think that you need Toontrack Solo.
Toontrack Solo was useful for EZDrummer1 and SuperiorDrummer2 customers playing e-drums live.

SuperiorDrummer3 customers can use it in standalone mode and therefore need no such host.
EZDrummer1 and SuperiorDrummer2 did not have standalone versions
and therefore needed a host like Toontrack Solo with which to operate.

If you upgraded from EZDrummer1 to EZDrummer2, you still have access to your EZDrummer1 kits.
Only the plugin gets overwritten, not the libraries.

Sounds like the ability to send the Click/Metronome to an output apart from the kit in Standalone mode could be welcome option as well.

How about some specifics?
What version of Pro Tools are you using? what is the BPM set to in Pro Tools?
is it a constant BPM or are there tempo changes?

What groove(s) are you dragging in from EZDrummer2? what is its BPM in EZDrummer2?

Library Settings from the [Settings] dropdown menu:

The Libraries Settings Tab is where you can alter, and set the installation path
to your various installed Superior Drummer Sound Libraries (SDX’s).

Browse for Library Paths: This allows you to set the path to an installed Superior Drummer Sound library (SDX) in Superior Drummer 3,
so that it appears in the Library Selection menu.
This should NOT be used for setting paths to EZX libraries (EZdrummer Sound Libraries).
Simply click this button and navigate to the SL-(library name) folder.

This option should only be used if you are attempting to link a previous existing installation
of a Superior Drummer Sound library (SDX) to Superior Drummer 3 so that it appears in the library selection menu.

Because you have purchased the Superior Drummer 3 hard drive option (where the sound library is pre installed on a hard drive),
you would connect the hard drive containing the sound library(s), launch Superior Drummer,
and use the Browse for Library Path feature to link the sound library to the Superior Drummer 3 software.

An important note: If you are installing Superior Drummer 3 on a computer that contains EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer 2,
there are no actions necessary for these existing sound libraries to appear in Superior Drummer 3.
They will automatically appear as available libraries in the Library selection menu.
