You may have to consider using an external host like e.g. Vienna Ensemble Pro (VE Pro) that lets you stream from the host to an AAX plugin instance in Pro Tools 10. There is no way to “force” the 64-bit AAX to load in 32-bit Pro Tools 10.

    BR,

    John

True. I neglected to mention or consider the Pro Tools 10 limitation as well.

You could try to run SD3 on a 64-bit operating system in a ‘virtual machine’ using a program like VirtualBox,
VMware Player, VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop.

from Section 7.3.2 “The Grid Editor” of the SuperiorDrummer3 manual:

“When engaged the Snap option will cause all notes to conform to the grid.

The visible grid is based upon the zoom level (i.e.  the more zoomed in  you are, the more grid lines available). Opening the Resolution menu will allow you to choose the note division for the snapping of notes. When moved, notes will snap to this determined value regardless of the grid lines that are displayed. There is also an Auto option. This forces the note to snap to the very next grid line that is displayed, and thus determined by the zoom level.  The single Resolution menu is used by the Snap, Quantize, Swing, Randomize, and Nudge features.”

    (1) will I trigger a different snare sample depending on how lightly or how hard I hit the key which the snare is assigned to?

    Yes.

    (2) can you program performances with EZ Drummer or Superior drummer?

Both EZDrummer2 & SuperiorDrummer3 are each delivered as a standalone program
and as a plugin for use within a ‘host’ such as a DAW (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Studio One, etc).
As you no doubt have seen from the product pages, videos and marketing,
both EZD2 & SD3 have Song Tracks & an ‘Edit Style’ function with which to alter grooves within the Song Track.
With these features, you are capable of personalizing the MIDI placed there, but not programming per se.

However, SuperiorDrummer3 also includes a piano roll right within the standalone program (and within the plugin) in which you can program your own grooves or edit existing grooves.
The standalone EZDrummer2 program has no piano roll function for programming but the plugin version will play grooves from its host/DAW wherein you could program your own grooves (depending upon the host/DAW).

While I have no personal experience with Logic 8,
the Compatibility Chart at the very bottom of the EZDrummer2 product page says,
    Version 8 or above“.

I believe that Guido is referring to the ‘Yamaha Club Jordan Cocktail Drum kit
that was included with the original EZDrummer1.

    Probably not.
Being a free version of their software,
I believe that Pro Tools First is limited to Avid plugins:

    Please provide a few details.
Into what host are you loading EZDrummer?
What are your system specs? (OS, RAM)
What EZDrummer library do you have loaded?
Where is the MIDI playing from? (the browser tab, the Song track or from the host)
    Cheers

    https://www.toontrack.com/product/uk-pop-ezx/
“Sticks, mallets, regular and towel-damped samples available for select kits”

“From the tight and deep allround tone of the main ‘UK Pop’ preset to the intimate and dampened Beatles-esque ‘Tea Towels,’ the rowdy ‘Carnaby Street’ that hints of T-rex, or the tight and snappy breakbeat-inspired ‘Bristol Eyes,’ the UK Pop EZX covers a broad facet of the British pop wonder.”

Have you tried the ‘Learn‘ function for each articulation?
Please review Section 3.5.9 of the SD3 Operation Manual
for 2 methods of ‘teaching’ a MIDI Mapping for your iRig controller.
particularly the last 3 paragraphs of the Section.

See the attached screenshot of the EZD2 Tempo options.
The screenshot also shows how when dragged to the Song Track (or DAW),
the selected Tempo option is applied to the groove.

Notice how Tempo options have shortened or lengthened <u>the original 8-bar groove</u> into 4 bars (2X Tempo) and 16 bars (1/2 Tempo) in the Song Track.

Also attached is a screenshot from page 14 of the EZD2 Operation Manual,
describing the functions of the Tempo options. Enjoy.

what version number displays on your EZD2 interface?
are we talking about the plugin or standalone version?
Windows or Mac? what version of the OS?

    Yes. I just opened SD3, SD2, EZD2, Beatstation & EZMix2 in Harrison Mixbus32C v5.
(as VSTs. did not try AU) all very loud and very clear.
