Could you attach that SD2 combined preset, so I can have a look at what goes wrong?

If you want support for SD3 you should post in

That MIDI loop starts with pressing down the sustain pedal. You can see the pedal move in the GUI. I took a look at the file before EZkeys picks it up and it is the same. It is just not a loop that is well suited to the sounds in String Machine. It is played to sound beautiful on a piano.

There is a separate MIDI pack called something like ‘Keys and Strings’. The strings MIDI probably plays better on the String Machine.

Is this still true about losing the ambience/reverb after editing the release time, or was it fixed in an update?

This is not a bug, so it is not something that can be fixed. When you fade a drum using the envelope, that affects the sound of the drum in all the mics. So if you make a tom fade out in 100ms then it will do so also in the ambience mics and that will not sound natural since you would expect the sound of the tom to reverberate in the room after the drum itself has gone quiet.

I reduced the release ever so slightly on a few toms, and I still do hear the room/ambience (even when the amb channel is solo).

Yes, there is sound comming out of the ambience mics – for just as long as it comes out of the close mics.

This is what it should do, imo. Reducing the release time is like putting gel or tape on the drum head. But the reverb and room size would still exist (and it seems like it does). I don’t see where the steps in the above response are needed.

I described a three step process to fake a damped tom in a way that sounds pretty natural.
If you are happy with the result after just one or two steps then stop there and enjoy. 🙂

Well, what can I say, we never interpreted what you wrote like that. We thought that your problem was that you found the transitions too jagged and we identified an issue in your project and thought that pointing it out helped you.
Sandy, on the other hand, just don’t want transitions at all, no matter whether the crossfades are smooth or not.

Sandy, just wanted to start by mentioning that what you describe has nothing to do with the problems the OP had.
In your case, what you ask for is just nothing we offer. We have recorded 8 levels of openness for the hihat and the CC-control let’s you use a pedal to control which one you play and also changes any ringing sound into the openness dictated by the pedal. We offer nothing in between these 8 levels.

Just as an example. The Center articulation of the default snare in EZ2 Modern has 50 hits in 17 velocity layers. In SD3 Core the same numbers are 80 hits and 24 layers. The EZ2 snare has three articulations: Center, Rimshot and Sidestick. Sd3 Core has 8 snare articulations. Positional sensing is supplied by Center, Mid Center and Edge. In addition to Rimshot and Sidestick there is a Rim Only articulation and there are also Flam and Ruff articulations.

The stacks in SD3 are not capable of reproducing everything the MidiNodes in SD2 could do.

    >>I assumed the groups would interrupt each other, considering the instruments are all coming from the same articulated hat set.

This is one difference. All stacks are individual unrelated articulations even if they come from the same hihat.

The only way to get something like that is by making an SD2 preset and loading it in SD3. SD2 cannot use the new SDXs so you can only stack with the old hihats and even then it is a bit fidgety to to use the SD2 preset support to do something that SD3 doesn’t really support.

    >Is there any chance of this bug getting fixed in the near future?

Well, I think I have fixed the bug but when a new update can be released is another matter. That process will take a couple of weeks at the best.

I checked and the best case scenario looks unlikely.

Jochen, has tuned/pitched the snare and then done the high quality rendering called Process in SD3 and Fix in SD2. It seems that in SD3 the Fixing is not done consistently for all hits during a bounce. So it is not a matter of processing done in the mixer.

The thing is that latency compensation is something a host does, not a plug-in. So – if there is a bug in the latency compensation then that bug would sit in the host.
