thought I’d bump this after a good reply from John.
(quick answer to Johns response that I missed a long time ago was) yes, I know how to save a session as a template, however what I’d like to try to do is get the template setup as I did with my Superior 2 setup, where each drum had it’s own track and I could adjust the mix / level of each track, and the input was fed from instrument track with the Superior 2 plugin installed.
I’m guessing some of you have some great setups for your pro-tools session, that really makes the most of / enables the best of Superior 3.
As John said, I could probably progress my Superior 2 template that I’ve used for years and try to tweak it, but as an amateur home recording user, I wondered if the more seasoned of you had already made a session template that I could rebase my work flow from.
thanks
looking at this in more detail now – I’m not sure the velocity is the same as the pad.
When I look at the mouse click in SD3 stand alone and use the velocity curve indicator – every click is right at the top of the curve (the extreme top) when I hit the pad hard I’d say it’s approx %75 of the way up the curve, when I hit it super hard (almost breaking the table) it’s at the top and the volume is level (along with almost breaking my finger).
Looking at the midi monitoring input on the same test the “hard” hit is showing a note on of 80-100 (variation for each specific hit not being identical). The table breaking hit is showing note on of 127
a “normal” hit just tapping the pads is showing note on of 40.
how do I get the normal hit closer to the top end of the spectrum so that it’s a lot more similar to how you’d hit a drum normally by default and the hard and extreme hits are just that, hard and extreme.
I’ve launched superior 3 in standalone mode rather than a plugin and in the settings changed the library path to the external disk and copied the data across to the external disk – it appears to be working fine, is it that simple ?
nope, this is new to me, having a read, thank you for pointing me at a specific section.
thank you, the korg looks like it will fill my basic needs and it seems a great price.
I thought there may have been people wanting to collaborate on ideas. I suck at drum programming, and I’m basically limited to the midi packs which are really good to get ideas down onto tracks, but I thought there would be more (I’m sure their used to be) songwriters/drum programmers keen to work together, I’m missing a fill and someone program the fill for you or tweak a beat to fit your song more and you’ll return for the favour or give critique or credit etc, seems to be very much head down and everyone working on their own stuff in isolation.
I do this for a lot of guitar and keys work and it’s a vibrant community especially in the song writing stages where tracks are often going back and forwards to different people for tweaks or being critiqued or advised.
Some stuff I’ve got has been really opened up by Superior 2 and the midi packs in letting me get my idea down on paper, but I know could be better with a few better suited feels or tweaks to beats to make it fit the track a little better.
I appreciate that,
I’d really appreciate a complete description of whats in the midi packs before buying any more, they are not expensive and I’ll get great use out of them so I’m not concerned with what I’ve purchased, however going forward a list of whats in there would be really useful.
Hello Toontrack support ?
This should be pretty easy to respond to, is the information on the product page incorrect or have I not installed this correctly and there should actually be 3/4 straight beats in these packs ?
I welcome any input from someone who can do any form of drums, I know I’m weak with it.
I can’t see any way to pm you or get you my email address across to you, or get your email address
just to be clear, I’m not writing metal at al, more blues/country/pop/americana style music.
I’d love some help with programming, I’m actually quite excited about the idea of trying to work with people across the internet for drums, as this is a part I really struggle with and without the drums as I want them, it’s sometimes hard to get the idea of the songs across as its always a compromise.
Let me see if there is a way to get an email to you and I’ll share some info with you, what a fun offer, thank you.
this would be hugely useful for me, I suck at programming drum tracks so either have to do VERY basic tracks myself or rely on the toontrack midi ones.
At the moment I’ve got a 3/4 track thats killing me as I can’t find anything that fits the needs, so the ability to use other peoples publicly available tracks or even say “hey, I have this track, can someone program some drums for me” would be very useful.
I should point out the same is true of other midi-packs I own.
The NY Volume 2 midi pack is described as
• Categorized in different songs and by leading instrument
• Tempos ranging from 83 BPM to 180 BPM
• Swing and/or straight feel in 3/4, 4/4 & 7/8
yet in the grooves browser there is only one 3/4 set of beats that is listed as “Swing 3/4”
it is impossible to see all the options in these packs before buying so you have to rely on the description, thats at least two midi packs I’ve purchased now as it appeared to contain some good 3/4 beats (which it does) however I do not want swing style – I want straight and the description implies both are available, and in these two examples, they are not.
This was purchased through the toontrack website, so I’ll use the FAQ – I do have show all products highlighted as I can see the other products Iv’e purchased, and the ones I don’t own are greyed out which is I why I purchased them.
thank you for clarifying songwiters pack 2 is also purchased as this is also greyed out for me, suggesting I’ve not purchased.
would it be possible to change this to say pack two ? as the only reason I purchased it again is because it wasn’t showing up in my available/purchased products page on the “my account” page
