OK,
when you add an extra Tom (in this case), a new mixer channel will be created by Default (unless you choose to route it to an existing channel) and it will appear to the furthest right in the mixer (of the mic channels, before buses or outputs). It will have an ‘X’ at the beginning of its name (X-Racktom in my screen shot above) but you can double-click the name and rename it to your liking.
For convenience, you can click to select this channel, move your mouse to the top of that channel and drag it to the left to re-order and place it e.g. with the other Tom channels.
Once this channel is next to your other e.g. Rack Tom (in this case) channel, you can Alt/Option + click and drag an FX slot from one channel to another to copy it. The same goes for Sends.
Clicking below the fader lets you decide where to send the channel, e.g. if it is routed directly to an output or to a Bus. Check where your other Tom is routed and select the same output for your X-Tom.
The Default behaviour when it comes to Bleed, is that it routes the available bleed to the present microphones.
So check e.g. the ‘OH’ channel by selecting it in the mixer and making sure that the Properties panel to the right is visible. In my example, I would inspect the bleed amount for the Racktom in the OH and then make sure the ‘Instrument 1’ (which would be the name for my added X-Racktom) has the same Bleed level.
Do the same for the other Ambience microphones and also the Snare and Tom channels.

The MIDI Mapping Keys can be modified, but this is not advised because the default mappings are used for grooves. Is this right?
Yes, if you alter the MIDI notes in the MIDI Mapping Property Box on the DRUMS page, it’s a “destructive” change, so to speak and the Toontrack Grooves will not sound as expected.
If you create a custom MIDI Mapping on the ‘MIDI In/E-drums’ page, it real-time transforms incoming MIDI instead, keeping your kit still compatible with the grooves in the GROOVES browser, all the while letting you have your preferred layout on your keyboard/pad/E-drums controller.
This custom mapping remains active even after a library change and if you save an SD3 Project, is saved with the Project state.
If you have created a custom map and wish to further add notes, I do not see it would be a problem? Just keep saving it.
As for the rest of your questions, I suspect that you misunderstand how the MIDI In mapping works. As long as you keep the re-mapping there, you do not break grooves compatibility and you still have 127 notes to map to your liking.

Thanked by: MiscreantHi,
the most likely reason why it sounds different is that the Close mic for the added Tom has its own new mixer channel and is processed differently. Bleed should be routed automatically in the same way as the original Tom but the new X-Tom channel is “clean” and routed directly to Out 1-2.
Copy EQ/Comp, etc from the original Tom mixer channel and also include Sends and also if the other Tom is routed to a bus and copy this.
Also, when you have Tuned a Tom on the Drums page, don’t forget to click ‘Process’ for a more natural sounding Tuning.

John

Hi,
you will not hear any difference between the instrument engines. SD3 can load both EZdrummer EZX libraries and Superior Drummer SDX libraries, which EZdrummer 3 cannot.
Newer EZX:s have an increased bit depth compared to the original ones but an EZX loaded in one or the other should not sound different. You have a regular mixer with filters/EQ/FX in SD3 whereas the mixer in EZD3 is more locked to the currently loaded preset. You can create Sends and Buses in SD3, which you can’t in EZD3.
SD3 is much more configurable and gives you more control over individual articulations, bleed and mixer channels. And you can create Macros which can be MIDI Controlled.
EZD3 has got Bandmate, which SD3 hasn’t.
I would say EZD3 is easier to learn and gets you great-sounding drums right out of the box. SD3 takes more time to learn and if you aren’t interested in all the extra bells and whistles, EZD3 is your choice. You will not hear any difference using the same instruments in the two, apart from being able to create your own FX in SD3.
I can’t recommend a specific DAW. LUNA has been a bit restricted when it comes to VI’s with multiple outputs but I don’t know if that’s still the case. Otherwise, I’m sure it’s good.

Hi,
there is no VST (2) version of EZdrummer 3, only VST3. It is installed to the ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3’ folder.
You also need to enable VST3 plug-ins in the Ableton Preferences (Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders: On).

Hi,
I just tried from my location and have no problems downloading via the PM. Where are you located? My guess would be that the server nearest to you has a problem with this package and needs to be refreshed.
I will forward this thread to my colleagues but I do not know if they see this on a Sunday.
Do you have any VPN client so you may try connecting from another location, preferably far from your actual location and then start the Product Manager?

…and if you have complex Tempo changes, it might be easier to export a “dummy” MIDI file from your Cubase Project (it does not matter what it contains) and then go to EZbass > Track > Import Tempo from MIDI File. This will properly align the Tempo changes in Cubase with changes on your EZbass Song Track, so ‘Export Song as Audio File(s)’ gets you expected results.

Thanked by: Funky-wolf and ShootieHi,
I would guess it depends on how much RAM you have and how much of it is occupied when you load bigger kits, if stuff must get shuffled from physical RAM to virtual.

Hi,
having multiple plug-in windows open is something you manage in your DAW, it has nothing to do with the Toontrack plug-ins. Which DAW are you using?

Thanked by: Scott EshlemanHi guys,
this seems like a good example of a feature request you should post about in the ‘Requests & Feedback ‘section; a Key Signature Editor in EZbass like the one in EZkeys 2.

Thanked by: Glenn StantonHi,
my first guess would be that you are running Logic in Native mode. Start Logic in Rosetta mode.

as you see in this screen shot, you have raised the volume of the Snare Instrument with 12dB, not the Mixer channel.
As this is EZdrummer 3, there is stuff going on under the hood and Jord is right, there is a multi-fx processor on the Snare Top in the Mixer and when you raise the volume on the Instrument, you deliver a much hotter signal than intended into this processing.
Also, raising the Instrument volume means that all channels that have bleed from the Snare gets louder.

Check the mixer for any Reverb Bus and Mute. Also check for ‘Amb’ microphones and Mute them.
If this still isn’t damped enough, try selecting several Mixer channels, e.g. the Toms or OH, and ‘Disable Bleed from All Instruments’.

Hi,
I have no info regarding a possible update for this long since discontinued EZX but if you feel confident enough you can manually install it.
Manually tinkering with the contents in the Finder is always risky if you do not know what you are doing though.
So, with a big red warning sticker attached, here’s how you could do it:
Now you can launch EZdrummer 3 and you should find both the EZX and its MIDI
