The change was made because we wanted to unify the colors in the software. I agree that we might have lost some contrast here, so I’ll take a note if this in our todo lists. Thanks for the feedback! ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you running it standalone, or in a DAW (Logic, Cubase, or similar)?

What buffer size are you using? Usually, this is what sets the latence; a smaller buffer size will decrease the latency, but increase the workload of the CPU. So usually one should pick a buffer size as low as possible, without getting any audio glitches. I have my buffer size in standalone set at 64, which gives me a latency of 1.5 ms. But when I run a DAW, it must sometimes have a bit larger buffer size, 128, to avoid glitches, since all the plugins requires some CPU.

However, when I use a daw for mixing, and not recording anything, I set the buffer size to 1024 or higher, since the input latency won’t matter in that case, and I can use many plugins simultaneously without problems…

Thanks for the ideas. To add AI, or smart algorithms, to the e-drum section of SD3 is a good idea, one that we have discussed before. I’ll add this to our lists of what to do in future updates!

What version of SD3 are you using? The version number is visible in the lower left corner of the interface.

Yeah, Superior will try to get the best matching Grooves it can. The more grooves you have in the library – the better the results will be.
If you drag the MIDI file you have created to Tap2Find drop zone in the Grooves tab, you’ll see what Superior thinks is the best matching. There you can enable Show Web Shop MIDI to search through all of Toontrack’s MIDI on our server. If you find anything that you like, you can see from what MIDI pack the file comes from ๐Ÿ™‚

We won’t comment on future release of new products. Sometimes they get delayed, changed, or similar, and if we have promised something in advance – people would get disappointed, and that’s the last thing we want!

Regarding the Grid Editor in EZdrummer 2 – this is one of the things that differentiates EZdrummer 2 from Superior Drummer 3, and what makes Superior more powerful – as it should be, so we have no plans to implement it in EZdrummer 2.

Thanks for the feedback – keep on rocking! Cool

To add to John’s answer: the bounce options has been the same in Superior Drummer 2 – it’s just the interface that’s new in that section.

Short answer: yes and yes ๐Ÿ™‚
The only incompatibility is that Superior Drummer 3 can’t read you own User Presets made in EZdrummer 2.

    – It would be nice to have 2 buttons for “show preview pad” and “remove instrument” next to “add instrument” (top left) button under Drums tab. Their current location is quite far for a quick access.
    – It would be also nice to have undo-redo buttons next to “help” on menu bar for quick access

We have designed the system so that the most used commands, like show preview pad, undo, and redo, has gotten their own keyboard shortcuts. Because of that, we haven’t put buttons for those directly in the interface.
    – Undo = alt + z
    – Redo = alt + shift + z
    – Show Preview Pad = ctrl + alt
See more shortcuts on section https://www.toontrack.com/manual/superior-drummer-3/12/12-1-key-command-spread-sheets

Remove Instrument and Show Instrument Pad is also available when right clicking an instrument, in the More sub menu.
Remove Instrument wasn’t seen as a command that would be used often – so it didn’t get its own shortcut, or a very easily accessible place in the menus. Maybe we’ll add a shortcut…

    – Another idea for “show preview pad”; wouldn’t it be nice to be able to change the drum and the articulation in the pad window ? maybe it can show MIDI velocity of the mouse hit as well ? ๐Ÿ™‚

We have thought of this, but simply haven’t had the time to do anything about it – other things has gotten higher priority! But we have it on our lists of ideas for the future ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks for the feedback!

I can’t be sure, but a plausible scenario would be that the e-drums sends the note, but with a really low velocity – or some other MIDI data that’s not correct.
Of course, I can’t be sure here so we would really need some more information on this – like info about the MIDI data that gets received by SD3. We will keep our eyes open for these kind of bugs here at the office too…

When you listen to the MIDI in Garageband – have you disabled Follow Host, or deleted the MIDI from the EZkeys song track? If you haven’t, then both the MIDI from EZkeys and Garageband will play at the same time, leading to strange results.
