Not samples, but you load MIDI files by linking folders to the Browser and Search tab. This is done via the Menu/Settings.

We tried this on a windows computer, running Cubase 10, and it worked as intended.

    • Can you try to create a new track in SD3 and place some MIDI there just to try if that makes any difference
    • Or else, try to create a new Cubase project, where you create a tempo map and see if it works then

I like to play quieter allowing for more dynamic range when I do pound the drums. So my volume is up. However, when I select a kit piece for editing with my mouse it plays it at full volume. Insane. Can I get a simple parameter in settings to control this please?

You can select an instrument silently by pressing Ctrl + Shift on PC (Alt + Shift on Mac) when clicking on it.

You can also do the opposite (preview an instrument without selecting it) by pressing Ctrl on PC (Alt on Mac) when clicking on it.

If you want to preview certain velocity of a selected instrument, press Ctrl + Alt to see the preview pad, which has velocity sensitivity. The Preview Pad can also be shown all the time by going to More menu in the Drums tab > “Show Preview Pad”.

Are you on windows? If you are then hover over the icon on the task bar. This will bring up a mini window. Right click on this and it will give you the option to size and move if off screen. If your on a Mac then I don’t know.

I will probably not work, since superior drummer 3 won’t get it’s own small icon in the task bar when it’s used in a DAW, but it might work to resize the entire DAW by using your suggested method.

On Mac, you can hover the right edge, of the program you want to move, so that you see a horizontal resize cursor <->. Click and drag straight down and it will drag the window down.

Additional options in ‘select’ menu: ‘Select by velocity…’. A new box has options that will let you select all notes below a value, over a value.

We didn’t focus on creating a more advanced select menu since it’s usually pretty easy to lasso (click and drag) select the velocities that you want to select. Are there any situations where this is tricky by using the lasso way?

The select similar knob could use a toggle to only select new notes after the playhead location. If I am editing notes and everything has been fine but then I come across a note that is not getting triggered, I want to select it, select similar and know that whatever work I have done up to this point not get affected. Otherwise, this adds another step to my work to verify I did not trigger anything I shouldn’t have.

If you use the Split Region Tool in the Tracker, you can select the region(s) you want to work with, and Select Similar will only select notes in the selected region(s).

I have written down the other requested features, that wasn’t on our list before! Thanks.

    • Can you open the Standalone version of SD3?
      • if you can, there’s an option in Settings called Reset Scale and Size, which restores the default size settings for the windows.
    • Are you using the latest version (v 3.1.2?)

That would be a good feature – especially for those of us who work over a network.  This now required copy and pasting presets to to local folders when you edit the preset on two computers. Also, it look like you can’t open a preset from another location, which makes the Manage in Explorer feature less helpful.  It would be nice to at least open a preset saved outside the default file location.

I agree with you here, that these would be nice feature. I’ll add those to our feature request list!

    Thanks for the feedback.

Can it be something like a faulty MIDI cable?

They are not always registering a hit or they are not working at all.

You need to determine if the hits are registered by the e-drums or not. Record MIDI while you play the kit, using SD3’s song track, or a DAW. If some of the hits aren’t recorded to the MIDI, there’s something that needs to be fixed on the e-drums.

I will write this up, since I agree that you should be able to get the value from controllers without changing them!

    Thanks for the feedback.
