Anyone knows what the “Preset Sets Routing” under user Presets is for ?

If you are using multiple outputs from EZdrummer 2 you have the option to use “Preset Sets Routing”, which means that when you select a new presets, the outputs will be changed to the outputs specified in the preset (specially useful if you have saved a custom preset, with special outputs). If you don’t use “Preset Sets Routing”, your output will be kept.

I can give you an example. You set your snare channel in EZdrummer 2 to output 7-8, and in your DAW you set up a channel that receives 7-8 from EZdrummer 2. Since this channel receives the snare audio, you set up special effects to treat the snare – a compressor and a reverb.

After a while you feel that you want to use another preset, and you select some other preset. If you don’t have selected “Preset Sets Routing”, the outputs won’t change, output 7-8 will still be used for the snare channel (your snare channel in your DAW will still receive the snare audio). If you had selected “Preset Sets Routing” – your snare channel’s output may have changed, meaning that your snare channel in your DAW wouldn’t receive the snare audio anymore…

I hope this (loooong) explanation, or John’s (above) made some sense Laugh

By “Save Track” do you mean the Song Creator menu -> “Save Track as Structure”?

I can’t see if you have EZdrummer 2, but that’s the best way to find beats, using Tap2Find. You simply tap in a beat you want to use and it will search your installed MIDI. It can also search through all Toontrack’s MIDI online, and it will show you in what MIDI pack the found files can be found.

Yes, there is MIDI in EZDrummer2 and I drag them into my DAW. Would you recommend to take out the MIDI in EZDrummer or the DAW to get rid of the phase effect it causes?

The problem you are having, is that when “Follow Host” is enabled, it plays both the MIDI from EZdrummer 2’s song track AND the midi from your DAW’s song track, thus resulting in a chorus like effect – since each midi note is triggered twice.

Simply disable “Follow Host” (by pushing that button, next to the song track play controls). When “Follow Host” is disabled, the internal song track in EZdrummer 2 won’t play when you play the song track in your DAW.

I did a google search and saw some posts about dedicated ASIO multi client software – some ASIO drivers don’t seem to be compatible with simultaneous audio sources.
If you like to investigate further, Google: asio multi client. Maybe some of our other forum users have more insight on this matter?

As J.A.J Sound mentioned – if you have the same MIDI on your song track in EZdrummer 2 as you have in Cubase and press play in your host (while having Follow Host enabled), will make 2 similar MIDI files play at the same time, and cause a chorus like effect.

They are (usually) blended into current, matching mixer microphones. If you load a x-drum that has an OH mic, it will be connected to the current mixers OH mic. I say usually, because it’s not always possible for SD2 to know what to do with some microphones, in that case you can manually wire them.
You can see these connections, and even re-assign them in the x-drum Microphone Assignment (found in the area where you create the x-drum).
In there you can, for example, create a new Mixer microphone for the x-drum OH mic.

To zoom the Song Track you can either use the mouse wheel, drag the edges of the red scroll bar handle (below the song track), or use + and – buttons to the right of the song track 🙂

You can search for any MIDI by dragging it to Tap2Find, even MIDI files that comes from Toontrack, to locate what pack they come from.

If you have a daw that lets you drag and drop the MIDI from the DAW straight to Tap2Find, that’s the easiest way to do it.
Some DAW:s won’t, however, let you drag the MIDI from the DAW’s MIDI tracks to anywhere else – the desktop, nor into EZdrummer 2’s time line.

In that case: record arm EZdrummer 2 (press the record button beside play and stop below the song track). start your host to record 1 or 2 bars of the MIDI you want to locate. Once that is done, drag the MIDI (on the EZdrummer 2 song track) you just recorded to Tap2Find. You should see the original MIDI in the top of the results – as long as you haven’t edited the original MIDI too much.

Ask again if my instructions wasn’t clear enough 🙂

I use a Mac nowadays, but I used to run a PC before. I think I solved that problem by using Asio4All driver, instead of the built in Windows driver. Have you tried that?

It’s always a good thing to replace things when looking for an error, and trying out a shorter USB cable will eliminate (or confirm) if that’s the problem.
    Other things to check:
    – that you have the latest version of your audio interface software
    – close all your programs that you don’t need, to exclude those from the list of things that can cause the problem
    – try to (temporarily) increase the buffer size of your audio interface. This will lighten the load of the CPU, just to check if that helps. It will, however, increase the latency.

You might already have used our Product Manager to check that all Toontrack software is updated – but I have to ask, because that’s often the reason for problems like this.
