The problem is when I then open Pro Tools and want to bring in the stuff I have on standalone into the EZdrummer interface from within Pro Tools, I lose the clip arrangement and colors I had neatly set up in standalone EZdrummer timeline.

If you make a song track arrangement in EZdrummer 2 standalone, you can save that as EZdrummer 2 project file. In Pro Tools, open EZdrummer 2 and open that project file, and your song track will be loaded, along with the drums etc.

The host takes over the basic key commands (ctrl + c, ctrl + v, ctrl + z). If you, for example, press ctrl + z when using EZkeys in Cubase – the undo event will be fired in Cubase, and alot of times the last thing you did was to add EZkeys to the track. The result will be that EZkeys disappears from Cubase – which isn’t what the user would expect. These shortcomings apply on all plugins that runs in DAW:s (Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools etc).

As Olof said, the main issue is that EZkeys is designed to work as a plugin in a host, which will take over shortcut keys. We know about this shortcoming, and we are constantly trying to make our software work as smooth as possible for our users. I can’t, however, say what we will do in the future.
You can ctrl + drag (alt + drag on Mac) to copy a block on the song track, which will enhance the work flow.

I have used EZdrummer 2 on a Windows 10 touchscreen device (from Wacom) and it registers a click when I release my finger from the screen, so software will get the press event when the finger is released. I am not sure we can do anything about it, since it is the OS and hardware that dictates this. I need to investigate further in this matter.

Can you try the same on your touchscreen? Simply try to click on an icon on the desktop – is it selected when you release your finger from the screen?
