Notice that if you move the VST from where the Superior Drummer 3 installer placed it, it can get troublesome to update Superior Drummer 3 – since it will try to update the VST in the original path!

I just tried to do the following, using Superior Drummer 3.0.3:
– Drag a 4/4 MIDI file to the song track
– Change the track time signature to 3/4
– Drag the file to the user folder
-> When I select the file in user browser, it says 3/4.
Do you do it another way?

Have you checked that the audio issues only occur for Superior Drummer 3 in standalone mode?
Does it sound bad when you:
– run plugins in DAWs, like cubase or similar?
– run Superior Drummer 3 in a DAW?
– Is it a difference if you increase the buffer size in Superior Drummer 3 Audio Device settings? Try something like 1024 – it increases the latency, but offloads the audio processing…
I am asking because these kind of problems almost always comes from the audio device/drivers/computer, or similar… It can of course be SD3 causing this, but we need to rule out the most common sources first 🙂

Sorry for the confusion – the Velocity Gate is the control you need 🙂

The default VST path is Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
In Cubase Plug-in manager, check what path(s) it’s using for VST:s, and check those paths for the “Superior Drummer 3.vst” file

This is a tricky part, since the MIDI shouldn’t only be playable from the song track of Superior Drummer 3, but also from a host (Cubase etc), or real time with a keyboard or E-drums. This is impossible, so what you have to do is to move the MIDI notes (that that plays the reversed instrument) to the left, so they align with the hit of the other instruments…
I’ll take a note of this, and we’ll see if, and how, we can improve this system!

1) Is there a way to randomize the articulation on the snare? (rimshots/center/side) ect?
No, that is not possible. Is there a special scenario where you want to use this – or just simply having the snare play different articulations all the time when a certain note is hit?
2) Are there any quick keys for zooming on the track?
Not currently, I’ll take a note of this as a feature request.
3) Any way to get my playhead to sync with my DAW? (Pro Tools?)
This will be fixed in a coming update!

There is a problem regarding cmd + x, cmd + v, cmd + z and some other system keyboard shortcuts. Logic owns these, and will take over. I know about the problem you describe, hitting cmd + z to undo and the last thing you did in Logic was to insert Superior Drummer 3 – but unfortunately we can’t do anything about this. This occurs with all plugins, even with Logic’s own.
Regarding locking the play head to Logics, this will be fixed in a coming update!

This is a bug, that hasn’t been noticed probably because most of the times, people use the loop area in their host so everything loops in the same areas.
I’ll take a note of this bug!

That menu entry was wrongly implemented, and never worked as intended. It has been removed in coming updates.
If you want to clear the mixer – go to the main Drums and Mixer preset menu, and in the bottom there’s a Mixer sub menu. Select “Default” to reset the mixer.
That option will make all unused buses and outputs visible. If you want to hide them, select all them and in Edit Visibility mode, click “Hide”.
If you want to reset the mixer to what it was when you loaded the preset, right click on the preset in the Drums and Mixer preset menu, click Select Parts… and select to only load the mixer part.

Thanks for the info. If it happens again, please report it so we can try to recreate that scenario!

I’ll notify a coder that will take a look at this. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the reply, I am trying to create that 80’s gate sound so I would assume I would apply this to the Ambiance channel or both ?
The basics of that effect is to apply a reverb, and add a gate after that – so when reverb of the snare falls below a certain volume the gate should silence it completely. The effect is simply called gated reverb.
Try it with one of the clean kits – Yamaha Default for example:
– on the Snare bus – add a plate reverb, and choose preset Rich Plate (top right corner of the reverb popup). Set the MIx control (dry/wet) to 40%
– on the snare bus, after the reverb, add a Frequency Gate effect. Change the Threshold to about -35 dB.
Now you should have the basics of a gated reverb effect (made popular by Phil Collins amongst others in the 80’s).
Also on some of the kit presets I try and apply a stack on the snare and I can’t hear it when playing.. Is it just not routed ? If so how would I go about routing it ?
First check that you are playing the stacked instrument! In the drums tab, check that the stacked instrument is playing by looking at it (it should have an animation when it plays), or open the articulations drop down list to check that it’s playing. If that’s the case – select the stack and increase its level in the Level box.
Further – check the mixer if you get any volume in the stacked instrument’s microphone channel. In Superior Drummer 3, we call those channels “User Mic” Channels (the user has added an instrument, which added a mic channel in the mixer).
To get a better grip of the routing of instruments and their microphones – I suggest that you take a look in the manual, to see how the basics if works!

Thanks for the feedback. It’s a good idea – and noted!

I’ll take a note on displaying time as a feature request. It’s a good idea, but haven’t been implemented yet – mostly because shortage of time from our side…
The BPM issue sounds strange, I don’t think we have gotten any reports of it before.
– Did it occur when you ran Superior on it’s own (standalone), or in a DAW?
– Can you reproduce it? That would be the best scenario for us, since it’s easier to track whats going on in that case…
