@Henrik – You just made my day! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Until the updates roll out I’ll have a trigger finger on the Toontrack Product Manager.Wink

@Henrik – In Superior Drummer 2, I believe he is referring to combining (layering) kit pieces from various MIDI Grooves to create a custom performance. For example, taking the HiHats from one groove, the kick from another, and the snare from another, which together create a one-of-a-kind performance.

Having that ability allows the user to create a seemingly unlimited number of grooves built from the individual kit pieces available in the Grooves panel.

I too would love to have this feature in Superior Drummer 3. Hopefully some of the previous code base can be used to make it somewhat less tedious to reimplement.

Glad to hear that, Henrik. I know Toontrack’s got their ears on and are listening:) I really appreciate it!

Regarding 8 – Only four time signature denominators are available in the menu Track > Edit Time Signature function (see attached screenshot).

Regarding 1 – Having the names of the MIDI grooves/fills from the Grooves panel be reflected on the MIDI regions used in a DAW would be extremely helpful. As of now, all DAW placed MIDI regions are named “MIDI Region” which makes it impossible to know what MIDI has been used.

As a workaround, it was suggested to place the MIDI temporarily in the Song Track and use the “Find In Browser” function to check what MIDI has been used, but with a lot of fills this becomes overly difficult too, because after using the “Find In Browser” function for 20-30 fills or so, it’s next to impossible to remember all the previous MIDI that was just checked. In Superior 2 the name of the DAW placed MIDI was named according to the MIDI found in the grooves panel.

I will wait patiently and look forward to the updates.

    Thank you!

That’s just an indication that those kit pieces are not part of the currently loaded kit. It does not mean an incomplete installation.

It was stated in another thread that the reason Toontrack opted for an online manual is so that it may be updated and avoid outdated manuals that users would otherwise have on their drives.

Further details and tips would be a welcome addition to the existing manual.

I noticed that too and just assumed they didnt include those presets in the final release for some reason or another.

Well, I’m not a programmer so I don’t know how easy or hard it is to make the size adjustable. But, Toontrack listens to its customers and have taken notes on all suggestions. It may not seem like they are listening but they are.

The scalable interface and detachable panes are a godsend. Hats off to all those who are now having eye twitches from sifting through thousands upon thousands of lines of code. Thank you so much for all your passionate work, it goes greatly appreciated!

“This is because the panel of MIDI notes DOES NOT SCROLL while dragging an item.”

That would indeed be a helpful feature and one that I expected when changing key assignments by dragging.

Entering the keyboard notes manually or by using the ‘Learn’ function is faster when reassigning to a key that is not in the current keyboard view.

A Superior Drummer 3 consolidated Tips sticky would be really helpful to have.

… can SD3 access the MIDI drum patterns from SD2, EZDrummer1, and the EXZ’s?

Yes. All previously installed MIDI Grooves are available within the Superior Drummer 3 Grooves tab.

I never remember, I have too many Midi packs…. they aren’t named according to pack.

It would indeed be very helpful to have the MIDI parts we’ve used to be named after the MIDI files in the Grooves tab.

I don’t see that feature anymore either.

Toontrack removed some pro level features that were extremely useful for total creative freedom. While the drum sounds are killer, as are the mixer features, they unfortunately removed some powerful features for writing with total creative freedom.

I’m coming from Superior Drummer 2, and this new version honestly feels like it should be called EZ Drummer Pro.

…it would be awesome if the midi file keeps its name when dragged and dropped into the DAWs drum track. Even if suggested workaround on that is okej its still lacks a flexibility as to compare and work directly with the drums in the DAW.

I totally agree with you Vaijj. It would be great to know what MIDI files have been used, as it was in Superior Drummer 2. Hopefully the developers can reuse some of the previous code base so it’s not such a tedious task to implement.

I most certainly can’t be the only one who needs to see which Toontrack fill/groove I have already used in order to select a new unused fill from the selection.

I appreciate Toontrack’s consideration of reimplementing this extremely helpful feature as I am sure many users would benefit from seeing precisely what they have already used in a song.

    Thank you Henrik.
