I’d recommend Roland’s stuff – it is more expensive than some others but you get what you pay for.

If you can, buy a TD12; The TD20 isn’t worth the extra money for use with S2.
If you’re tight for cash, buy the bottom end module (TD3?), then expand it later with a TMC6.

In any case, I would decide on the module/brain before planing out the kit.

    Just to clarify,
gear designed to be used on stage (where you don’t know the quality of the mains wiring at the venue) has to be designed with safety features you might not consider or bother with for personal/home use. I wouldn’t like to advise someone on how to go about a project like this unless I was confident they would do it safely. Hence the request for an email to discuss.

    Hmm,
Well, I’m an electronics design engineer and I can tell you straight off that your wiring skills have almost nothing to do with how well your edrum triggers will work out

I can probably help you out with triggering lights off your drum pads though – strobes should be fairly easy too. Drop me an email.

    Hi,

    (edit)
I believe Gibralter racks will take roland clamps and vice versa, so if you have any vdrum bits they should still be useful.

Thomann (www.thomann.de) sell all the different bits of v-drum rack hardware. They also sell the vdrum racks without the rest of the kit. They’re probably the cheapest and (imho) best in Europe (no I don’t work for them, I just bought most of my kit there 🙂

Obviously they are European – ymmv shipping elsewhere.

    Cheers,
