Firstly hi everyone as i am new to this.
i stumbled across building your own e kit while trying to find out if there was any way of using some kind of trigger to set off a strobe in each drum when hit.
since then i’ve got the bug and i’ve just started my edrum build!! wupee.
anyway seen as tho I’m such a poor excuse of an electrician and you guys seem pretty good…
do you have any ideas how i could build these light trigger jobbies? could be used to trigger a light rig or just strobes in each drum etc… so they light up when you hit them..
thanks, any help would be great
and sorry that its not really on the right topic for this forum

Hmm,
Well, I’m an electronics design engineer and I can tell you straight off that your wiring skills have almost nothing to do with how well your edrum triggers will work out
I can probably help you out with triggering lights off your drum pads though – strobes should be fairly easy too. Drop me an email.

Just to clarify,
gear designed to be used on stage (where you don’t know the quality of the mains wiring at the venue) has to be designed with safety features you might not consider or bother with for personal/home use. I wouldn’t like to advise someone on how to go about a project like this unless I was confident they would do it safely. Hence the request for an email to discuss.
Cheers,
