Replicating a “The Classic” 4 mic setup in SDX libraries?

    Haven’t tried this but what about using those four mics and adding a short room reverb or short delay to the overheads?

    I think you could do it. Just use one snare mic, one kick mic, and play around with the various overhead and room mic options in each SDX.
    Many libraries have one mono ambient mic nearer the kit for example.
    You could end up using just 3 mics, or 5 mics. Who cares if it recreates the sound you are after.

    You can adjust the timing (phase) of the overhead channels too, to align them on the snare…
