Forgive the stupidity of this question:

Is it possible for a 3rd party sample in SD3 to somehow be included in the ambient and OH mics along with the rest of the (native) SD3 kit?  In my situation, I am using 3rd party tom samples, and they sound a bit “separate” from the SD3 kit. They are not currently being played in SD3 but rather, from their source (a hardware synth).

So Ollie, forum crew member- We have to select Original mix to have control over kick bleed in our snare?  Because there are umpteen other presets, which all sound COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than one another (and different than Original mix).  But you’re just casually telling us we’re stuck with a SINGLE preset mix, like it’s not big deal?

Am I missing something?  We want control over mic bleed in ALL of our presets mixes.

    Godprobe,

It appears you have gotten matching kit pieces to correspond by color.  For example, all hi-hats are yellow, no matter where on the piano roll they appear.  Can you explain how to do this?  I’m not wishing to create my own; I’m not even sure how to download/install the version you created.

John, thanks for clarifying.  I took your advice and added a 2nd instance of EZD by duplicating the daw track containing it.  Since multichannel outs were already created/assigned from EZD to daw, these were preserved in the duplicated track, making life easier.  And then, in the 2nd instance of EZD, all kit pieces were disabled except the toms.

    Thanks to you both.

I do route each EZD mixer channel to its own dedicated daw track. Are you saying it is possible to route 1 EZD channel (ie: toms) to 2 separate daw tracks?

That’s a good solution, thanks!  I tweaked tom pitches within EZD, and wondered about assigning an envelope to automate this in my daw, but never considered the “EZer” method (Lol) of doing it in my midi editor. Top shelf!

I believe the preset I’m using is original mix for the Vintage rock EZX.

My problem is: the snare preset that I like originates from a kit with only 2 toms.  I want a kit with 5 toms, but then I lose the snare preset which only works with its original kit!

I’m gonna try opening another instance of EZD in my daw.

Good point. I think both of our observations point to Toontrack sacrificing user control in the interest of making it EZ.

Well, shit- of COURSE I want control over the sounds in my song!  Makes me wish I had gone with Superior Drummer.

Umm Chris from 2015: Alex was not “triggering” drum sounds in 1979 lol
