This issue is getting on my nerves. Obviously I’m using Cubase too.

I found pressing space bar 3 times normally gets the drums going but I’m not accepting that going forward, it’s just too annoying.

And it’s a lottery if the drum tracks start playing with the project when you press space bar. Sometimes they suddenly kick in 3-4 bars late.

    Sort it out

Yep to say it’s annoying is an understatement. Does anyone test this stuff?

    I don’t get it…ez drummer 3. Ow looks like Toontrack’s flagship software?

Theres a lot of features that I would love to see in superior drummer 3. So maybe a superior drummer 3.5?

    im confused.

So as I explained in the first post in this thread you should try selecting the midi blocks in the timeline (leave out any that are Toontrack blocks) that you think might be causing issues.

Right click and copy those blocks. (yes you may need to do all of this multiple times for all your blocks, or you could just merge them together and do it all at once)

Now paste it kit piece by kit piece. Snare, kick, hi-hat, etc etc …If there is any strange midi in there, don’t paste that because that’s what flips SD3 out. It might be called “note XX” or unmapped midi

Toontrack did patch this issue a while ago ( I saw it in the patch notes of one of the updates)

I just ran into this bug yet again.

Strangely It’s a project where I dragged midi into cubase and change the VST to addictive drums then sent it off to a friend to put vocals on it.

I load it up, make a new superior drummer instrument and drag the drums I did before back into SD3. I make a couple of cuts and then start adding stuff to my project. I then want to edit the drums so I goto the grid editor and bang, Cubase is instantly shut down.

The midi doesn’t even have any funny stuff going on. No midi info outside of SD3s mapping. The whole drum section is just SD3 loops after all.

There hasn’t been a patch for SD3 in many many months. Surely there are some in the pipe work?

    Using the latest version.

Support already know about this. There hasn’t been any SD3 patches in the months since I raised the issue.

Use the draw tool to add a blank block to the timeline and then double click it to edit it.

I think the plugins I have are much better overall. I hear wierd distortion or big in the audio sometimes with the superior plugins. I also understand my plugins better. In an ideal world Superior would support using VSTs in the mixer.
I would however prefer to just have a preset ready to go and tweak from it. I’m still searching though. I think if Superior was better at merging the Snare from one preset into the toms from another preset it would make my life easier. Right now the way it does it has major issues.

I made a SD3 drum map as well as some others like Addictive drums.
You can download them from my website http://www.songsfromsolitude.com

    I had this exact thing.
    I never use automation.
I would press play and the drums would be maybe 75% volume then after the 2nd bar or so they would return to full volume.

Ahhh adding the midi in might work.
I’m surprised this feature isn’t in there. It would seem almost harder to program it the stacking way surely? though the stacking method is awesome in itself I would still like to see easier blending.

Maybe one day it’ll get updated, maybe it won’t.

(these math questions at the bottom of the post screen are getting close to my mathematical capabilities)

Does stacking not only work for a single articulation?
If I have a black beauty snare in the preset for example then add another snare via the stack method its only able to trigger a single articulation like the centre stack?
So when I have a drum track it sounds fine until a rimshot is used then it drastically drops in volume and tone as it’s only triggering the rimshot from the main snare and not including the stack snare.
The only option to get around that is to make another stack for the rimshot hit and everything other articulation i may need. thats too much busy work or am I missing something?

Think I posted that in the wrong forum but I made one and uploaded it.
