Figuring that using EZMix as an insert in a DAW was fairly obvious,
I assumed that the OP was attempting to run both Superior Drummer2 and EZMix2 in standalone mode (by way of Toontrack Solo).

I just successfully output S2/Solo to Soundflower (MAC)
and set Soundflower as the inputs to EZMix2 both in standalone mode,
    without a DAW.

Tap2Find will search all of your current downloaded MIDI packs and all of the other MIDI packs available from Toontrack’s Web Shop
if you enable “Show Web Shop MIDI” on the SEARCH tab in EZDrummer2.

You can hear any matches to any pattern that you tap or drag into the the Tap2Find window.
Be sure to display the “Library” column in the Results window to reveal the MIDI package(s) containing your favorite matches.
Pages 13-14 of the EZDrummer2 Operation Manual explain and illustrate in better detail than I.

Hi, I am interested in your software, beware: I just destroyed a MOTU BPM software package and an iLok dongle, and I injured a toe. So please tell me: does ezkeys require an iLok dongle or not? No, and I won’t care if it is not in your faq, I DELIBERATELY will not buy your software as long as I can’t find the next message at your site IMMEDIATELY: “this software DOESN’T require any dongle.” Thank you in advance and you don’t have to reply: I will be waiting.

    interesting post….
Toontrack software currently DOESN’T require any dongle.
Your toes are safe but for other hardware and software.

it typically installs into a “Toontrack” folder within the Application folder.

I’d suggest bouncing the tracks to audio in the DAW or export them from EZDrummer2.
You can then cut’em up and place them on wherever beats you like.

why not “Copy and Paste” only the kit piece that you want?
then you’ll only have one (1) kit piece to remove if you want to make a completely blank groove.
and I’m a little more than curious why you’d want to make a blank groove in EZDrummer….
is it just used as a “spacer” in a larger groove?

It appears that you have the Opening Hit turned off completely in your video.
Please note that the Opening Hit is ‘grayed out’.
It is toggled On/Off by the switch to the left of the words, “Opening Hit”.

within the “Edit Play Style” window (accessed most easily by double-clicking the groove to be edited in the Song Track),
you can change the kit pieces & articulation used by the Power Hand and the Opening Hit.

    Are you using EZDrummer2?
If so, John’s suggestion will have you using the new Tap2Find function on the SEARCH tab of EZDrummer2.
After clicking the ‘Tap2Find’ button, the current drum kit is presented and the metronome starts.
Quantize is a dropdown menu of available subdivisions.

It reads like you were recording your 4-count in the Song Track, not in the Tap2Find.

Attached is a 4-count that I did using the sticks in the Nashville EZX expansion.

    Excellent idea, John!
I’ve penciled sidestick count-ins into an Instrument track within Pro Tools but this will be even easier.
Note to self: these little patterns can be saved as User-Defined Grooves & Favorites for repeated uses again & again.

You can not drag and drop a file from the desktop to the pro tools plugin but you can drag and drop a file from the desktop to EZDrummer 2 stand alone. You can then save the EZdrummer 2 project (menu > Project > Save project). Finally you would open this project in EZDrummer 2 launched in pro tools (menu > Project > Load project)

    Sorry…
I hate to disagree with you but I have been successful at dragging MIDI from the Desktop or from folders on external hard drives into the EZDrummer2 plugin within Pro Tools 11 (on my MacBook Pro with OSX).

for me, parts of it had a spy-thriller, espionage soundtrack feel and the solo had an Alex Lifeson (RUSH) vibe.
In other words, “cool, very cool”

I’ve tried to ‘drag and drop’ as well as ‘copy and paste’ back from both Logic Pro X and Pro Tools 11 without success.
However I have successfully dragged(?) MIDI from the Desktop into EZDrummer2.

Saw the previous EZKeys is Horrible thread.

Well for me its fantastic. If you are an accomplished pianist you don’t need EZKeys. I’m not. I’m a guitarist. This software has opened up a so far unachievable world for me. I think its stunning. I cannot play a keyboard, yet can now produce piano based songs. Here is an example written totally in EZKeys for an artist called Heather Merryn. Its been played on the BBC here in UK. You may not think its any good or like it, but for me this was just not possible until now.

I’m not linked to Toontrack in any way other than a very happy customer.

Just one point minor point Toontrack. It looks like you used admin rights to lock out the ‘EZKeys is Horrible’ thread. No need to do that…. let your customers speak for themselves whatever the alternative views.

    Cheers

    Chris

    Awesome, Chris!!! Friikon awesome!!!
