So you have not yet had a download session in which sound32.obw WAS successfully downloaded? That file has been the one and only file you have been having problems with, from the start? To reiterate, when I found myself in this situation, I was able to work around it only by having success in downloading in a previous session a file that I was subsequently having problems with. It was matter of killing the download, killing all the files, and trying a fresh download multiple times, trying to get successful downloads of all the files in several sessions. A real PITA!

Thank you very much, John. I do indeed have access to the Superior Drummer 3 Support forum now.

I’m a registered owner of SD3, because I registered my Sweetwater purchase of SD3 with the “Register New Product…” function in Product Manager, using the serial number provided in the Software Activation Instructions e-mail from Sweetwater. So, I’ll just use the Contact Support button in the FAQ. Thanks, Scott.

I’m happy to report that this little trick worked perfectly. For this latest full download attempt, it was soundb41.obw that wouldn’t verify. I paused the download, deleted soundb41.obw, copied the verified soundb41.obw from my backup of the previous download attempt into the active download location, resumed the download in Product Manager, and it immediately progressed to “Complete”. So, for those experiencing this issue, the solution requires a minimum of two complete download attempts, and also that the unverifiable part file in the second download be a different one from that which failed in the first.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are no bad sectors on the drive. I ran a check. Here’s the trick I’m going to try this time around. Every time I delete the entire download and go for a complete download of Part 2 again, it’s a different file that ends up not verifying at the end. First it was soundb40.obw, then 38, and then 37. So it’s totally inconsistent as to which part file fails to verify. I have copied the part files from my latest download attempt to another location, and have kicked off a new complete download. After this download gets to the end, and if there is yet another part file that fails to verify, I will simply pause the download, kill the unverifiable part file, copy the corresponding good file from my backup to take its place, and resume the download. Hopefully, Product Manager will see everything as good, and I’ll be done. I’ll report back momentarily.

Was trying it all again this morning, and now it’s soundb38.obw which is the problem child. Infuriating.

Hi, John. I am located in San Diego, California, USA. And as a follow-up, I have been trying to download Part 2 – Room Mics, and haven’t had the same “success” as I finally had with Part 1. It’s the same exact situation. That last file (soundb40.obw, in the case of Part 2) just does not want to verify. No matter how many times I use my technique described above, I can’t get it to the Finished state. Frankly, I’m fed up with trying. Do you have any ideas?

UPDATE: I finally got it to succeed, and here’s how I did it, in case anyone else falls into this snare. I watched the download folder during the process of downloading the Basic library, and when it got to the end, I paid close attention to what was going on with the .obw files in the Sound subfolder. When it got stuck in the loop at the end of the download, I saw that there was one file that was continually being touched/updated, by the fact that it’s Modified Date was being being updated with each verification failure. It was the file soundb18.obw. I figured that this file must be the one part of the library that is failing in its verification. So I paused the download in the Product Manager, and the quit the app. I deleted the soundb18.obw file, restarted the app, and then resumed the download. The soundb18.obw file reappeared immediately, and about 40 seconds of downloading commenced. When that part was downloaded, I ended up just getting stuck in another verification failure loop. I repeated this process (pause, quit, delete, restart, resume) three more times. After the third attempt, verification finally succeeded, and the download was marked as Finished! I then installed with no problems.
