I’d actually prefer the height in SD3 to match EZD3. Provides a far better visual indication of the MIDI detail for me. It looks like they wedged it into SD3.

An option to choose would definitely be best.

Er.. no. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Actually I take it back about the search algorithm – it doesn’t search for swing consistently if it is applied in the drop zone, so yes a tweak to the algo would definitely help.

    Thanks!

Well, my guess is that at least one of your installed Bright Room files is corrupt. A common cause for that is that there is a problem with the disk, e.g. that it has a bad sector. You could try to simply install the library again.

Thanks Olaf. Just downloaded and verified – it said it checked out, but still wasn’t fixed. I then uninstalled and reinstalled and voila – graphics are back.

Superior Drummer just shows the same generic graphics for all 3 kits, is that by design?

PS – odd that Uninstall was greyed out in Product Manager until I download it again – only then could I uninstall it!

I have exactly the same issue but for the EZD3 bright room. Toontrack support have declined to respond thus far.

Huh – just noticed in SD that the graphics are the old graphics not the new, and are the same for each of the three new kits. What SHOULD I be seeing?

Grateful for a response – thanks.

It’s the global time signature only.

Much more seriously, the option to have no quantize has been removed. That makes tapping / searching for swing / shuffle grooves all-but impossible, severely limiting the scope of this terrific feature. At least with no quantize you could give it a go, but it really needs improving not deprecating – a proper swing control on the tap to find page is what is needed (and yes, time signature too).

Thread on that here – https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/ezd3-tap-2-find-no-quantize-option-removed/

Bumping this question as clearly my install is atypical. Because the library loads fine in SD3, am I best to delete and then reinstall the EZD3 plugin itself?

Anyone else have an issue with $20 discount disappearing today?...

Anyone else have an issue with $20 discount disappearing today? I had it since I added the crossgrade version to my cart weeks ago (per Toontrack email). This morning it is no longer discounted in my cart.

They were pretty clear – the discount was pre-order only.

Searching straight grooves with Tap2Find in EZD3 should generate similar results to searching grooves with just a bit of swing applied in EZD2/SD3. Searching triplet grooves with Tap2Find in EZD3 should generate similar results to searching grooves with close to 100% swing applied in EZD2/SD3. I’ll look into this a bit more to see if our search algorithms could be improved somehow.

If I pick a swing groove and then drag it to search, it returns other swing grooves, so the algorithm seems to work fine.

Most swing / shuffle grooves exist between the two extremes of straight and triplet. We just need that facility in Tap2Find. At a bare minimum, allowing zero quantization is a workaround – I’ve had success tidying that in SD3’s grid editor and then searching for that. Why was this basic option taken away?

Do I need to keep EZD-2 installed after updating to ED3?

I’d say yes – the main library is used in EZD3, the plugin itself is still needed for opening legacy projects.

We have very similar setups, and I have about 2/3rs of those libraries. Not a single issue here, everything looks and sounds great (also surprising – I was expecting updates for all the old EZXs, they haven’t come but clearly all the graphics are new)

Ironically the only issue I have is in EZD3’s own Bright Room, which says needs to be updated. It plays grooves but there are no drums visually, much like you have with those 7. It loads fine in SD3, however.

(Just as a matter of interest, SD3.3.0 is still showing all the old graphics except for EZD3).

If you want to program a standard swing groove in Tap2Find, just select 1/8t in the Quantize menu. The time signature in Tap2Find adjusts to the time signature of the Song Track. Just change the Time Signature of your EZD3 project and Tap2Find will be adjusted as well.

    Aw c’mon. That’s not swing – that’s rigid triplets.

All the other major areas of the program have a proper Swing control – why is this forced to rigid quantization at source?

Time sig is liveable with as you can change the global sig, but the swing thing really needs addressing ASAP.

How do you change the default location to install EZ3 Lib?

Since no-one from Toontrack wanted to answer this, I’ll have to do it now I know. The answer is – no. Not only does it not have time sigs and swing, the option to have no quantize has been REMOVED.

This is a major blunder. Toontrack – this needs to go to the top of your job sheets.
