I’m with Frode on this one. I use NVME drives (M.2) and I also find that the load times are way too slow for being on such a fast drive (the bar at the top reaching 100%). I had moved to NVME in order to improve from regular SSD but no difference really. And yes of course I set my libraries to SSD optimization.

My expectation was that on NVME it would be swoosh…loaded! But it isn’t.

My Kontakt libraries on this drive are loading at the expected speeds – but definitely not my Toontrack drum kits. 🙁

My hope is for SD4 to be the solution for eDrummers more than drum programming.  The UI could be so much improved for those who want to use this while sitting behind the drums. Like a quick way to navigate presets that don’t require grabbing your mouse and trying to click a tiny arrow icon every time we want a new kit loaded. Being able to assign certain presets to key commands or MIDI CC messages. And making the SD drums “smarter” so that we can reorganize the graphics to match our own physical setup, and then not have to reassign MIDI note numbers to the physical pad/cymbal every time we change kit. Like if I want my physical splash to remain a splash, then have it remain a splash no matter what kit I change to. Having to re-assign every time is a nightmare. I think SD should be the line for eDrummers, and EZ should be the go-to for programming.

For me, its simple.  Add a NEXT and PREVIOUS button (and keyboard shortcut or midi learn) to go from one preset to the next.

Having to use the mouse while at the kit to go in a dropdown menu every time I wanna try a different kit is so primitive and a joy kill.

If this was in a module/brain, there would be a next/previous with one tap.

I think this is something I wanted as well but found to not really be possible in SD in its current form. Perhaps someone will have a more definitive answer.
But if I recall, the closest is assigning an articulation (note #) in the eDrums settings and hoping that as you switch to the next kit, it will still sound consistent with the previous kit, and not something completely unrelated.  Let’s see what others have to say…. if its definitely not doable, then I would love to see TT develop this feature for us who use SD3 with eDrums.

NKS seems to be the elephant in the room at Toontrack 🙁

I think so. I saw in another thread a while back that as a workaround, you can figure out what groove it was by re-dragging it inside SD3.

Agreed on this. Would be nice if they impletement arrow keys in GUI to go thru the kits instead of having to go down a drop-down menu. Or like you said, macros… or even assign a MIDI function to trigger next kit from the controller.

Wow thats crazy!  You’d think this stuff would go thru a quality check…

OK so just to confirm, no need to change anything in the MIDI/eDrums Settings tab correct?

This is all done from the Search window, the Drums tab, and the MIDI Mapping side panel?

Thanks John – I may not have explained it clearly enough. I’m not looking to drop my own samples, just mix and match samples that come with SD3 so that I can make the most of my edrum controller….

I would rather use the rubber rims on my Vdrums toms to trigger electronic sounds instead of the default acoustic rim sounds that would normally load with a kit preset. Whats the easiest way to do this?  I tried doing Select Parts but it swaps out the entire drum, I also tried using the Search screen but it just adds the electronic sound as a stack to the existing sound.

Should I be doing what you mention in your last paragraph? Is that the best way to accomplish what i want to do?  I wish we could just click the rim of the drum with the mouse, right-click and assign a new sound like that without affecting the head.

Are there still no updates on this? It would be extremely useful.

I heard from support a few days ago… they confirmed that browsing presets thru key commands or MIDI message is still not a feature for standalone SD3, though it is apparently still on the roadmap…how sad that it’s taking this long to implement such a useful feature.

Yes please!  I use SD3 and I have the Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2. So many NKS integrations on the market today – get on it Toontrack!

Thanks for sharing.  Been on the fence about getting one… taking a look at what’s out there.

How are you liking the experience? And which functions do you find yourself using most?

Hi Johan – I recently found that when I was hitting toms on my TD20, the cymbals shown in SD3 would sometimes move. I figured it was very subtle crosstalk happening. I solved this by assigning the toms and the cymbals to the same Crosstalk group inside the module.  Perhaps this will work for you, otherwise maybe others will chime in with other suggestions….
