Good news- I got it into Reaper! Not exactly sure how but I kept at it including uninstalling and reinstalling (twice!) EZD2, and Reaper, then after watching another video by someone about getting plugins correctly filed on my computer and in a VST folder and playing around with that and that Preferences list on Reaper, it got recognized and is now usable as a plugin on Reaper! Major relief! Hopefully this can help someone else!

Btw, here’s my list of VST plugin paths at that Reaper Preferences place in case anything jumps out that’s wonky:

    C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins; C:\Program Files\VstPlugins;C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\Toontrack\EZdrummer; C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3; C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\Toontrack; C:\Program Files\Toontrack\EZdrummer.dll

Just a thought but could this be happening because I'm using only a Reaper evaluation licence currently? Seems hardly possible though since I'm evaluating whether or not to use Reaper based on its ability to access the EZD2 plugin!

Hi John. Thanks for getting back with your ideas.

Yes, I've rescanned in the Reaper VST plugin settings- many times after adding the EZD2 path to that Preferencs list and before and after the uninstall/reinstalls I mentioned earlier.

Yes, what you described about my EZD2 standalone being open etc,is what I mean. Seems odd to me it would semi work like that. Anyway I only mention it in case it factors into the problem I'm having getting EZD2 properly accessible in Reaper.

Hmm. I just don't know what to do now. Entirely uninstall/reinstall EZD2?

mean.  Seems odd to me that it would show up in Reaper all but the sound.

Hmmm. Don’t know what to do.

Btw, I’ve now uninstalled the 32 bit EZD2 (so have just the 64 bit version now, which is working normally), and also uninstalled/reinstalled Reaper. Copied the EZD2 path into that list in Reaper Preferences but EZD2 still not showing up on list of virtual instruments.

Btw, I am able to now and was already able to drag a EZD2 track into Reaper before the uninstalls and reinstalls I mentioned above and the track is there in Reaper and appears to play but there’s no sound.

Thanks for the assistance, John. I'm using Windows 10. My EZD2 standalone works as expected, no problem. I don't know if my computer is using the 32 or 64 bit version. I downloaded both. Just a few days ago. Should I uninstall one? Or both and reinstall the 64 bit version? I have inserted the path my EZD2 shows where I'm supposed to in the Reaper preferences location but no go.

I’m brand new to Reaper and most of this DAW stuff. I’m not getting EZD2 showing up there under ‘instruments’ either, after doing what everyone says to do above and everything I can find about it elsewhere online. Does it have something to do with my having downloaded both 32 and 64 bit EZD2 versions? (Anyone know which of those should I keep, btw?) Thanks for any assistance possible.
