Just another +1 for the “Export MIDI to Audio” feature for the standalone. I do this with SD3 all the time and spent a long time trying to figure out how to do it in EZ Bass before I searched here in the forum. I was pretty shocked it wasn’t in there.

The software has also been SUPER buggy for me. Crashes Logic, hangs, restarts my computer, app goes white, etc.

I understand new software needs the kinks worked out though, so I’ll be patient 🙂

Reply To: EZbass does not include the ability to output to wav or mp3 like EZdrummer version: 1.0.3
    Operating system: macOS Sierra (10.12)

Thanks for the patience! Please report any bugs you find, it’s especially helpful if you know how reproduce them, or can attach a crash dump file! 🙂

    hm, that sounds strange.

    • What version of Cubase do you have?
    • Are all EZbass menus behaving like this?
    • Does it work better if you (instead of clicking) press the mouse button and keeps it pressed while scrolling in the menu?

Is Cubase running in 32-bit? In that case, install and run the 64-bit version instead since EZbass is 64-bit only!

Hi, thanks for the info. That being the case, what is the “Export to current song track” function for? Is it the same as just dragging the midi down from the drums or keys card?

Yes. It’s there to visualize for those who doesn’t discover the drag and drop functionality.

if I set that as the key in EZBass it transposes everything down a semitone.

If you select a new song key, the current MIDI and chords will be transposed to fit that song key.

    • This is used if you for example drag down a groove and it plays in C major, but you want to change your entire song to play in G major instead.
      • All chord will be transposed to G major.

If you want to change the song key but without changing the MIDI – select No Transpose in the Song Key menu.

    • This is used if your MIDI is playing correct, but you notice that the Song Key isn’t correct and you want to set it right.

As you found out – EZbass doesn’t support two slides that crosses each other (one goes up, and the other goes down), and the easiest way to achieve it would be to have two instances of EZbass for this effect. You can then bounce it, to avoid having two instances running just for that part.

The bass is mapped so that each note on a keyboard is mapped to a fret or loose string on the bass, to keep it as simple as possible to play, and have all MIDI files compatible. The tuning options you mention will tune the entire bass equally – so for example, if you want to play to a guitar that’s -50 cent of tune, you can match that in the tuning section.

ARA implementation would be nice when audio to midi is needed… just take a look at how Melodyne is integrated to Logic.

Yes, that technology works fine for its purposes – but not as straightforward to implement for our needs unfortunately. We try to keep an eye on all technologies that can make it easier for our customers, and we’ll see what the future can bring!

I just tried in Studio One 4.6 on Mac, and it works as intended.

I wonder if there can be a difference between Mac and PC, or between versions of Studio One?

Is there any difference if you use AU or VST (Studio One can handle both, right?)

We have made some changes in 1.0.3, so this issue should be resolved! Please try it and report back how it works out for you if you can 🙂
