    Hi,

I’m able to open ezdrummer in studio one and also see the midi information in the piano scroll. However, I cannot edit the midi information. There are times I just want to delete an individual snare hit to suit the song better.

This sounds like an issue in Studio One…

    • Can you edit other MIDI than MIDI that’s dragged from EZdrummer 2?
    • Can you add a new MIDI block on the EZd2 track and add and edit MIDI notes to that?

Something happened before that lead to missing graphic files for the instruments, which is hard for us to pinpoint… Glad to hear you solved the issue!

This is best handled using Toontrack Product Manager. Have you used that?

Most DAW:s don’t support drag and drop from the DAW, for example dragging a MIDI file to EZdrummer 2, or to the desktop.

However, you can record enable EZdrummer 2 and press play in the DAW. This will make EZdrummer 2 record the MIDI onto its track.

so I could try and simultaneously record in cubase and SD3 and see if the aftertouch is missing on the SD3 recording but not on the cubase recording.

That was what I was going to suggest. Record simultaneously in Cubase and SD3, and upload the SD3 project and MIDI from Cubase here. There are some e-drum manufacturers that don’t follow the MIDI standards, but I think Roland isn’t one of them…

It hasn’t been fixed in any updates yet, but we are aware of that it would be useful for you guys!

The graphics folder seems to only contain cymbals.

Try to re-download the latest Superior Drummer 3 Library Part 1 update and reinstall it. I’ve marked where you click to download it. When it’s downloaded, you can click the menu right of the download button, and choose Install.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the Aftertouch for the Ride. It shows an aftertouch value in bar 10, where it mutes the ride.

Should that also have been recorded on the first ride hit, at bar 5?

You can examine all the Aftertouch values by selecting it on the left side of the bottom part in the Grid Editor, if you haven’t try that before…

Thank you. It works well. But, can’t I adjust degree of swing by percent% ?

You can do that to some degree manually.

    • Drag down a Swing Groove for the shaker
    • In the grid editor, expand “Shaker 1” (or what your Future Hit Instrument is called), so you’ll see all the articulations
    • Drag the closest articulation note from the shaker, as close as you can towards the swing note you want
      • In my screen shot, I moved the second note in Shaker 1 (“Shake After…”) toward the play head, since that’s where the hi-hat has its swing note.

The Shaker, Maracas and Tambourines are using a special MIDI implementation that is tricky to edit by hand. This is because the instruments need to start sounding before the transient, the beat.

There are pre-made swing MIDI in the Grooves tab that you should use instead.

    • In Grooves, select Shaker Pad or Tambourine Pad, as they will show the special MIDI, made for these “Future Hit” instruments…

Have you enabled the Roland e-drums preset?

Are you using the latest Superior Drummer 3, version 3.1.2?

Can you save a Superior Drummer 3 project file, with the recorded MIDI on the song track, so we can have a look at it?

    https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/hey-i-need-a-groove-similar-to/

In that thread, a user posted a chariot MIDI groove which you can use. He had enabled a e-drum preset, so you’ll need to change some toms MIDI notes to the snare…

The drum sound of the original is pretty “raw”, with a natural, not that processed, sound. I think a preset like Small Room from EZdrummer 2 Modern library could be used.

You can undo/redo changes on the track by clicking “un”- and “re”-buttons in top left corner of the track in EZd2.

The manual is found under Menu/Operation Manual.

It should sound the same in Logic as in standalone if you haven’t:

    • done any velocity changes to incoming MIDI in Logic

    or

    • added any effects that will change the sound

In EZkeys you can change the velocity response for the keyboard, which can help you get a more natural response from the keys.
