Insert effects are effects used directly on the audio channel.

    • For example, you record a guitar on a track, and place a compressor on that track, then it’s an Insert kind of effect.

The alternative is Send effects, which are meant to be placed on a bus (sometimes called AUX, AUX return, etc).

    • In the recorded guitar example, you can also add the reverb on a separate bus/AUX channel, to which you send  a portion of the guitar sound to.
    • This means that many different instruments can use the same reverb send effect.

This is basics of mixing audio, and you should read some tutorials regarding this!

There is no dedicated Punch in/out feature, but will it work if you just cut a gap in the song block, where you want to add the new recording, and record into that gap?
If you want restore the part from the song block where you made a gap, simply extend the song block by dragging its edge.

It’s not currently possible. I’ll add this to our feature request list!

Turn off auto scrolling in the editor window

This isn’t an option in SD3, but I’ll add this to our feature request list.

When playback is stopped, do not reset playhead to original starting point

    * If clicking the interface; pressing the play button again will pause the track. Pressing the Stop button will reset the play head.
    * If using keyboard shortcuts: Pressing Space will stop the track, and reset the play head. Pressing alt + space will pause the track, e.g. leave the play head where it is.

Hi, I use Superior drummer 3 with a Roland Hd1, everything is ok, except for the hi hat pedal, I must press very strongly the pedal to have a completely closed hi hat sound, is there a way to tweak the sensibility of the control pedal ?

    Thanks !

Have you tried altering the Hi-hat settings in Settings / MIDI In/E-drums? There you can set the velocity curve for different instruments.

Thank you, found it! Now I entered all tempo changes and want to set all notes to 124 velocity. Every time I click a certain icon (marked red) the program crashes. Crash report and image attached.

How can I use the velocity and randomize sliders? The mouse is not sensitive enough. I can only reduce it by a minimum of 9 but not less. How can you do this via keyboard?

I have asked a coder to take a look at the crash!

thanks! what should I do with the “amb ribbon, OH Dyn, OH Cond and other ones that are created by default? Can I eliminate those?

You don’t need to eliminate the channels. If you don’t want to use them, you can remove all bleed from instruments from those channels (right click on them and select Disable Bleed from All Instruments). By doing this, less memory will be used by Superior Drummer 3.
After that, right click the mixer channels again and select Hide Channel, so they aren’t shown in the mixer.

I found out that CMD + Z does not work in Garageband. I lost my drum track ?

In older versions of Logic, undoing using Cmd + Z would delete the track (since undo will undo the last thing done in Logic; add an instrument track), and Redo command didn’t restore it.
In later updates, Redo will bring back the instruments as they were before the Undo.
It may be the same scenario in Garageband; newer versions allows you to Redo to restore the track.

José Miguel Bloise is correct. To use MIDI with no snap would lead to multiple issues in EZkeys (regarding chord analysis, etc.). This is best done in a DAW.

You never got back to me after my last question regarding not knowing how to midi mapping a roll articulation to a preset that doesn’t have the roll articulation available?  For example…N avatar has a roll on snare on thr middle Bb but the most others in the sd3 core library have no roll.  Also not listed in the articulations to click on or off.  Can I insert it somehow.  Whatever?  Maybe my question isn’t understandable or answerable.

I have been on vacation, hence my late answer 🙂

Not all instruments has all articulations, and Snare Roll is such an articulation. When you load a snare that doesn’t have a snare roll you can either:

    • program a custom snare roll with MIDI notes, using the regular center hit articulation
    • Insert a snare (that has a Snare Roll articulation) as an added instrument
    • Add a Snare Roll articulation as a stack to the currently loaded snare.
      • In this scenario, stack it to an articulation that you don’t need and mute the original articulation. By doing this, you’ll “replace” the original articulation with the Snare Roll.
    • Replace the snare with a snare that has the Snare Roll articulation

When I select or play the cy via midi or by hiting it in the drum window….it rings out the way I want and would expect.

You can also inspect the Aftertouch values in the Grid Editor in SD3. Change the Velocity view (in the bottom of the Grid View) to show the Aftertouch that’s used to mute the cymbal.

New to EZDrummer and can’t find a way to record a click track. Using Digital Performer 9.52. DP’s click is useless. Any help?

EZdrummer 2 doesn’t have it’s own click track when used in a DAW, such as DP. The idea is that it’s better to use the click track in the DAW. Is there a specific problem with the clicks in DP that we may help you to sort out?

In SD3, I was hoping to find something like a “Stack/Choke Group” setting.. along with the rest of the “View” > “Boxes”. My first reaction was to open the “Voice and Layer” box. I really thought the choke/group assignment option I was looking for.. might be in there.

Thanks for the feedback – the kind of explanation you added makes it easier for us to know what our customers wants.

I’ll add this to our feature request list!
