…mixer detached and save this in Logic Pro the window re-attaches itself.
Do you mean that they re-attach as soon as you save – or when you save -> close Logic -> open it again?
Currently – detached windows aren’t saved in the projects, e.g. when you open Superior Drummer 3 they won’t be repositioned. It is done like this because of technical reasons – but we will see if we can change this. I can’t, however. say when or if this will be done. Thanks for the feedback!

Well – that is not how it works unfortunately. We didn’t sit down and thought “it would be easy to do everything perfect, but let’s not do it for the fun of it” 🙂 I don’t know exactly how many 100s of drums we have sampled in the 35 ish EZX:s we have released – but to model each one of those in 3d takes lots (and lots, and lots) of time. It took our great graphic staff a huge amount of time and effort to accomplish what has been done.
If we had modeled every single drum of the EZX:s (which wasn’t even possible) – other areas of Superior Drummer 3 would have gotten less attention, meaning a less functional software – and that was a scenario we chose to avoid…
With that said – I understand that you guys would love this feature, we do too!

…switch to the ‘stereo’ mixer right away and all those busses aren’t working anymore in the SD3 mixer, even if everything is set to output 1/2?
John is correct, but I can understand your question here. We will take a look at the options in the output menu , and try to make it more clear for the users!

Hi Henrik,If I see that the velocities are low….do I adjust a level upwards via a certain setting OR does that mean I need to strike the drum head harder? 🙂
Thanks,
Derek Â
That is totally up to you, and how the e-kit is reacting to your hits 🙂 You can try to change the velocity curve for the drums (in Settings / “MIDI In/E-drums”). There you can adjust it so a harder hit will be triggered even if you don’t hit the drum so hard. You can do this for individual articulations, individual drums, or multiple drums at once.

Yes, there is a format (ARA) that allows this, and a few plugins and hosts support this. ARA is a good idea, and we will have a look at it in the future. I can’t tell you when, or if, it will be used though 🙂

When dragging a MIDI groove to a DAW, the name of the groove will be used. E.g. it will be named “Verse 02” for example.
We will change this in a coming update to better reflect the origin of the groove though:
– if you drag from the Grooves tab – the name will be the path to the groove, so you can retrace it
– if you drag from the song track – the name will be the song part you have assigned. Have you marked it as a Chorus, it will be named accordingly.

Thanked by: sj1If you’d like to put all your Toontrack stuff on one disk, then it makes sense to get one big SSD and download the samples. The Superior Drummer 3 pre-configured SSD doesn’t have much space for other stuff – this is to keep the prices for our customers down!

It seems to only happen when the stack is assigned to the “hit” articulation. I guess clicking the kick only triggers the “open” articulation? Â
Correct
Clicking on the instrument will play the topmost articulation, seen in the articulations drop down list, top right of drum kit.

Hmm, but the midi groove I’m using only has “open” articulations and yet triggers the “hit” stacks when played. More investigation. Confused.
If you drag the MIDI to the song track, double click it, and select Grid Editor, you can see exactly what notes that are playing. Expand the “Kick” on the left side, to see each articulation as its own row.
Also – if the Open articulation is disabled (power button turned off in the articulations list), playing Open articulation MIDI note will play the Hit articulation. This is called substitution, and is implemented so that kits with different amount of instruments, and articulations per instrument, still should be able to play any MIDI files from our library.

what i want to do is run sonar independent from SD3.
Just disable “Follow Host”. You find the button below the song track 🙂
another question is, after i save something as a “favorite” where are they stored so i can find them?
Press the star in the leftmost column header to only show favourites! If you press the other headers, you’ll sort the results on that column.

In the bottom of Search for Instrument – you can select if you want to preview the instruments in Search for Instrument through new mixer channels for the close mics. One scenario could be that you have low volume on the current snare’s close mic mixer faders, and when you preview a stack it will (by default) create new mixer channels. If you change the “Route Close Mics to Mixer Channels” to “Existing”, the stacked snare will play through the current snare channels.
When you load the stack it will also use this setting…
Maybe much information 🙂 But try it and see what difference it makes.

When you hit your e-drums, what velocities are being sent to Superior Drummer 3? Check in the MIDI Monitor (a property box right side of drums), or use the analyzer if you are in the MIDI IN/E-drums settings page. When you preview a drum by clicking the interface, it will preview 126-127 (max) velocity…

I’ll check it later for you, if you don’t have the time to check it before me 🙂
