What library/presets are you using in the first and second screenshot? Are they the same?

Regarding “Is there a way of splitting the Cymbals / Toms or any other articulations to their own discrete mixer strip / track”:
When you change, or add, an instrument using Search for Instrument, in the bottom of that area you can select if you want the close (main) microphones to be connected to the mixer’s current microphone channels, or if it should create new channels.
For example – if you have a Yamaha snare and you add an electronic snare as a stack – when you load the electronic snare, you select if you want to connect the electronic snare to the current microphone channels for the snare (“Snare Top” in that case) – or if it should create a new channel…

Thanks for the feedback! We will look at this.

Are you talking about SD3? It’s currently not possible, but a good idea. Thanks for the feedback, it’s noted!

As John pointed out – the MIDI mapping for e-drums is best handled in MIDI In/E-drums Settings. There you’ll see presets, and can re-map, adjust hi-hat sensitivity etc…
We have implemented two MIDI mapping places – one in settings (as I described above) and one in the drums tab, as a drums property box.
The way you should look at MIDI adjustments in Superior Drummer 3 is:
– MIDI mapping, velocity curve, Hi-hat CC in MIDI In/E-drum Settings changes things globally, e.g. “this is a general good setting for my e-drums”.
– The MIDI mapping, Velocity curve, Hi-hat CC in the Drums tab property boxes changes things locally, e.g. “for this specific preset, I want something to be a bit different”…
It can feel a bit complex in the beginning, but we think that the advantages of this system makes it worth the added complexity…

Have you tried adjusting the openness in the hihat CC curve controller in MIDI In/E-drum Settings?

Currently – it has to be done part by part – if you’d like it to sound as close to your original idea as possible…You can add one Track for your original MIDI, and another for the new version you make in Superior… Or several, with different MIDI files, to easily compare how they match you song!

Try setting the velocity curve in MIDI In/E-drum Settings, so it makes your kick go all the way up to 127.

I have asked the coders to comment here on this matter. As soon as they can rest from the coding, they’ll reply. Hopefully in english, rather than in some programming language 😀

Having an instrument loaded on a position (the snare position for example) – if you right click it in the drums tab, you’ll get a list of all instruments of that type, from the selected library.
Say you have loaded a Slingerland from Superior Drummer 3 on the snare position. Right click the snare in the drums tab, and you’ll see all snares from Superior Drummer 3, sorted by the different tools available.
There were some drawbacks of having a selection of tool on each instrument, so the current design was used instead.
