A request, also regarding the “search for instrument”, can user made instruments please be added to the search so they can be easily selected for stacking also.

Yes, this is a feature that would improve the usability. We have noted it, and we’ll try to get it into the software in the future!

There is no MIDI editor, where you can edit individual notes (like in Superior Drummer 3).
You can however for example take the kick part from one MIDI groove, the snare from another and a hi-hat from yet another and combine those into one file, and use amount (and the other Edit Play Style features) to change that groove…
You can also create your own MIDI files in a DAW (such as Cubase), import those, and use all the above described edit features…

Thanks for the clarification! That is not possible, because of how Cubase handles its plugins. Unfortunately – we can’t change things inside Cubase – track names or anything else.

What version of Superior Drummer 3 are you using? The latest: 3.0.3?
Can you save the project in Superior Drummer 3 and post it here so we can take a look at it?

You have to explain your request a little bit further here, since I’m not sure of what you are asking here 🙂 Do you want the audio to be automatically re-routed to Cubase so the mixer channel names in Superior Drummer 3 matches the channel names in Cubase?

How many instruments you will have in the kit (cymbals, toms etc) depends on the library, and whas Drums and Mixer preset you select from that library. If you load the Superior Drummer 3 core library, you’ll get 6 cymbals and 5 toms – whilst if you load the Jazz! EZX library you’ll get one crash, one ride and 3 toms. It was the same in EZdrummer 2 – it always shows the instruments that was recorded with the selected library – no matter what e-drum preset you have selected. The e-drum preset will adjust the current instruments to be playable with your e-kit – it won’t add, or remove, any instruments.

You can add as many instruments you want. If you, for example, want to have one more crash – go to “Add Instrument” and add any cymbal of choice.

If you hit one instrument, and another is played – it’s probably because the instrument you hit has nothing loaded – and will therefore be substituted with another instrument.

I hope this helps a bit on the way – if not then reply to this and we’ll try to help you further 🙂

We have had a similar report before, but in that case it was because in that user’s small speakers, the pitch wasn’t audible (since the higher frequencies are less modified than the lower).

I don’t know if that’s the case here, but to try to figure out what’s going on: can you bounce one version of the unpitched drum sound and one bounced file with the processed pitched drum sound?

Have you used the Product Manager to verify that your software and libraries are up to date?

Here’s an image that shows what the core library Modern from EZdrummer 2 should look like in Superior Drummer 3:

Well, for what’s it’s worth …. I found that FL studio has C3 as midi note 36. So, EZ appears to be doing it’s job.

What you discovered is that there are really two standards here, Roland thinks that middle of the piano is C4, according to Yamaha it is C3. Different DAWs has implemented one of these two standards, hence the confusion… If only people and companies could be agreeing more with each other, we would have a better world 🙂

A preset sharing feature directly in the interface would be awesome! Kemper guitar amps do a great job of this where I can browse the top rated user presets and it really expands the software to an entirely new level. Would love to hear the interesting kits you guys come up with!

Thanks for the request! It’s always nice when you can discover the works of other to get inspired!

So to be crystal, I am using the EZX called “Metalheads” with Tomas Haake’s drum kit so he will need that EZX to hear what I have done.

Yes. He will need the same library to listen to the MIDI you have done if he wants it to sound the same! If he doesn’t own Metalheads – EZdrummer 2 will be using another library to play the MIDI.

    @Jesse Kilgore said:
BUT will he need all the midi grooves/fills etc. that I have too?

No. The MIDI files are saved with the project save file for EZdrummer 2, so you can save a project in EZdrummer 2 and send it to your friend. Or you can save the project in your DAW, and he can open that, if he has the same DAW. You can also just send the MIDI files if you want to.
MIDI is an open format, so it’s like sharing a music sheet with your friends. It just tells the computer what notes to play Smile

Note that if he isn’t going to edit the drums himself, a Wave file will also work since it will sound the same as listening through EZdrummer 2.

You can import tempo maps from your DAW into Superior Drummer 3, and it will be shown as an editable tempo curve.
You can also manually set time signature changes in Superior Drummer 3, but they can’t be imported automatically from your DAW.

You can drag MIDI files to the song track of SD3 and then after that drag them to your DAW.

There seems to be a bug that won’t let you preview the entire stack by clicking on the stack label (above the selected parts of the instrument on the right side of Search for Instrument).
In the meantime – you can solo the snare and have a Groove looping on the track while trying out different stacks to hear what it will sound like.

The bug will be fixed, and I will take a look at the preview pad’s functionality to see what I can do about it! Thanks for the feedback!
