A lot of site search engines don’t work all that well. Try using the site: operator in your favorite search engine. Example:

I don’t need you or anyone else to tell me to show some etiquette – as you should remember I speak plainly and don’t hesitate to call someone out when they need to be done so. I am who I am and am NOT going to change that to suit you. It’s because of people like you that others don’t post on forums when they need help. Just wish this forum had an ‘ignore’ button.
Once again, you have it backwards and descibed your character than mine. If you want to call anyone out, then prepare to be called out yourself.

Describing my character was all my post was ever meant to do – I never said I was describing anyone else’s character. Don’t know where you got that idea from. I don’t have anything backwards. Reading comprehension is not your strong suit.

I’m going to make one request of you since this forum doesn’t seem to have an ignore or block function: stay away from me. I don’t need nor want your help. Oh and on the old fxpansion/BFD forum I used a completely different screen name that was a combo of my first name and ham radio call sign.
You didn’t have to tell who you were on the forum. I know exadtly who you are right down to your playing card avatar.
Plain and simple: don’t post on a forum if you cannot handle the response from me or anyone. If you wish to post information that I clearly find questionable in relation to the forum, I won’t hesitate to post an answer, whether you may agree with the information in it or not. Perhaps, I will give you same advice just as I did on the BFD forum: show some etiquette and act a bit more professional in your posts. Remember that you answered back with a borderline condescending tone of “How do you know?” type of response to a purely informational answer which would have been more geared to the OPs request than yours.

Since you quoted 2 different posters here and the forum s/w makes it impossible to edit a quote or a post I have to do it this way.
We’re only talking standard editing tools here.
Since you mention one of TT’s competitors possibly being where our paths have crossed it rings a bell – the old fxpansion/BFD forums? I see the tiger has not changed his stripes. You couldn’t take my straight talking before and you can’t do that now.
I knew I recognized the acid tone from somewhere! At least you remembered that part. However, I think you have it very much backwards: it is you who seems to find my responses hard to swallow, both yesterday and today. However, you are free to believe what you wish as it really has no bearing. Heck, if rhino hide looks like tiger fur to you, who am I to argue with your beliefs?
Given enough time I could possibly figure out how do what what’s being talked about. Heck it only took me a day to figure out how to change gui colors in ProTools when they went dark mode as an alternate scheme. Then Avid integrated the ability for ends users to do their own changes and not have to muck with the code.
This is not about modifying a simple resource here. The unpredictability of the file in a different spot lends itself to the fact that it does not account for which library needs to be loaded. You cannot simply add in the information and expect that SD3 is just going to accept it. In fact, you might get quite the opposite effect. TT will probably have to do some upward compatible mods to their preset file, or as I suggested above, modify the UI a bit. But hey, follow your own beliefs and muck with SD3 all you want. I hope for your own sake that you figure it out. Only reason I won’t is because my day is filled with enough coding as it is and at the end of the day, SD3 is for music as far as I go, and I prefer to keep that boundary and let Olof, Andreas & crew do the fantastic job of letting me keep that boundary.

Jord:
Since you quoted 2 different posters here and the forum s/w makes it impossible to edit a quote or a post I have to do it this way. I wrote this first paragraph:
Well being that I don’t know you my response was right on. Don’t know where you get I talked about people having a dismissive attitude towards me. You act like you know it all and don’t like when someone challenges your way of thinking. I don’t know what you have against me – have I wronged you in another lifetime? What is this ‘itchy ears’ thing anyways?
Your reponse to me was this;
My answers were solely based on your responses to me. Nothing more. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
As for not knowing you, something tells me our paths crossed in another forum… perhaps TT’s competitors. The patterned response speaks rather clear to me.
My response to you is thus:

That, my friend, is your problem. Not mine. And with a response as yours, I probably wouldn’t blame them for their dismissive attitude. However, anyone who knows me knows that if I said I’ve tried something, I have indeed done just that. Not to mention that they also know that I am not the type of entertain itchy ears, but somehow I think you might already be aware of that.
You’re not the only one who’s been doing this for decades. Not to mention the only cynic around (life has a way of doing that).
That being said, the very reason presets work the way they currently do is probably the same reason they grouped them as such. I’m sure they can figure out ways to make them upward compatible the best thing that can be done at this time is to submit a feature request. Either way doesn’t concern me much since I usually know where to find the user preset I am looking for since I would be looking for a specific sound associated to the producer who recorded them for the song at hand.

Of course I tried it! I’ve been using this software long enough to try many things people wouldn’t think of. 10 years of beta-testing their competitors has taught me to go beyond traditional use. TT was even to confirm some of the stuff I tried.
Perhaps, don’t be so assuming. You know what they say about that.
jord
I can’t assume that you tried what I wrote. I’ve learned to be a skeptic about things and need proof before accepting anyone’s statement. You could have said that you’d tried it and that would have ended the conversation. I don’t need a sermon on the subject. I’ve spent a lot of time (decades) making s/w do things the developers never thought of or said could be done. Same for h/w.
Your ‘Ive been doing this forever’ thing is wearing thin on me.

That won’t work as expected. It will try to load the preset in the current library rather than switch libraries and could cause some unpredictabilities.
jord
How do you know? Have you tried it? Just saying it won’t work without trying it doesn’t get it.

In a way SD3 gives a clue as to how to maybe solve this issue. Page 24 in the manual gives a clue. In the Drums and Mixer Presets tab there’s an option to ‘manage in Finder (Mac)’ or ‘manage in Explorer (Windows)’ What might work is to have duplicates of the presets in each of the folders done by working in either Finder (Mac) or Explorer (Win). Have actual duplicates in each and NOT use aliases or symlinks. Not a simple operation but it just might help out.
What I don’t know is do the presets make settings for a general setting like kick in level in say the core library or kick in in say Death & Darkness or whatever library? That is is it specific to a certain library or what?

I’ve been using this from the outset and have two expansions. You even have to go into the specific room in Hansa to get to a preset!
So I totally agree. Let us group presets how we like and sd3 can then choose the correct kit when we choose a preset. It’s a real pain trying to find a kit when you can’t remember what pack or part of a pack you created it in.
- This post was modified 3 years, 5 months ago by Mark King.
That’s weird that it happens in Hansa. I imagine it’s the same thing with D&D? What happens if you create a kit that’s a mix of a kit from say Hansa with some kit pieces from say Death? You’re in Hansa and use a kick from Death – does the preset get stored in Hansa? Or Death?

Thanks for mentioning this. I only have the core library right now; going to get Death & Darkness tomorrow so I’ll just have to deal with this. Would love to hear from one of the programmers as to why it’s this way.

HI Thanks,
Yes sorry for the lack of info, MacBook 2017 Monterey 12.3.1. 16gb
Samsung T7
External powered USB Hub
I knocked the cable at the Usb3 CPU side port.
The test was to pull the usb cable a second time after resetting the Paths.
Interestingly I spotted that SD3 had renamed the drive in the path “T7 1” on the second reset.
The Drive did NOT have a Name change it was and is T7. Thanks again
Just a straight MacBook or MacBookPro?
Manually reset the paths and don’t muck about pulling the connections while powered up. That’s never a good thing to do if you can help it. The reason for the “1” is because SD3 is seeing it as a new or duplicate drive.

Thanked by: BradMac or Windows? You give no system info at all although the phrase ‘disk utility’ would indicate a Mac of some sort.
Did you hot-plug the drive back in or do it with the power off? Even though a device may be hot-pluggable that’s not a good thing to do. Always power down everything, replug and then start up again. Since you mention Samsung I’m guessing it’s an ssd you’re talking about right? Is the hub powered or passive? If powered – bus power or external supply?
What did you do to lose the paths the second time? Did the connection lose it all on it’s own or what? Can you try things without the hub?

Hi all. I posted a link to this request this in Requests & Feedback. https://www.toontrack.com/forums/forum/customer-service/requests-and-feedback/
This thread request goes back two years. Might weigh in over there if still interested. The squeaky wheel and such….
Do you have a link to the specific thread over there? Thanks.

The MOTU M2 does have a button on it that lets me monitor what is being played (so I guess that is what they mean by direct monitoring), which I know that I can use, but I would prefer to hear the guitar with distortion if the end result is going to have distortion. Just to make sure everything sounds good as I’m playing it.
The image in that post was just of the splitter cable.
I found the ASIO setting and was able to select my audio interface, and by doing that, I’m getting about 4-5 ms of latency, which is awesome! I’ll still probably try getting one of those cables to see which method I like better, but thank you to everyone once again for all of your help! I greatly appreciate it!
Reply To: Recording Drums Directly From SD3 Into Reaper version: 3.2.7

4 to 5 ms latency? That’s amazing. With that kind of latency you won’t need a splitter. Even a drummer would have no problem playing along with those numbers.
