What was the function of your F: drive – for samples only or what? Generally programs would not put user generated data (like MIDI) on that drive unless the user specifically said to put it there. Was the MIDI your own stuff or the blocks that come with SD3?

MIDI learn already exists in SD3. It’s part of the MIDI in/Edrums page.

Does Cakewalk even support VST 3?

In Google I saw that Toontrack always had this problem. For years, the same answer is always written, but no good solution is offered. A real shame!

Like I said there’s nothing that can be done – sometimes downloads can crawl and sometimes they’ll be super-speedy.

Hi, I have to reinstall SD3 and all SDX-S. I’m...Hi, I have to reinstall SD3 and all SDX-S. I’m amazed that the download speed is only 2-3 MB/s!? I have very fast connection and other downloads (other sites) are much faster. So, it’s not the computer or my internet connection. How can I improve the speed? It can’t be that I need almost a week for all packages!

There’s nothing you can really do to get more speed on the download. A lot depends on the server load as well as what else you may have running that’s using the internet.
Actually there IS something you can do and that is to save off EVERY download to a separate hard drive. That way when you want or need to reload anything you have it at hand. Makes for good insurance. I have a separate drive that has all my downloads for the last decade or so. You only need to run the Product Manager to do any updates and those are small.
I also do a clone every week of my whole system to separate drives – one for the system, one for sample content and one for daw sessions. That way if something dire happens I can get back working with little sweat.

What exact revision of PT are you running? Just saying the latest isn’t enough.
Usually when I get crackling issues and PT crashes a reboot of the system clears up the problems. Are you doing anything else on the computer while working in PT?

Agree. Just got a new laptop and have to install multiple libraries and countless updates. Too many clicks and passwords to count.
Love the software, but the installation and update process sucks. Take a cue from Softube, Native Instruments, Arturia, and others. Simply “update all” and the magic happens without user intervention. You have so many products now that I think this is a necessity!
Jeff
The problem with Arturia’s way is if you don’t have ‘silent install’ enabled you have to deal with multiple clicks for each update. That would be almost tolerable if the clicks to ok something were all in the same place.

While I like the Product Manager right now I only have Superior Drummer 3 so the way it operates isn’t an issue. That being said I have other music s/w that gives the option of doing a bulk install or a one-by-one. And that’s a good thing. Especially if it allows the install with only asking once like you mention to input your user name and password.
As to having to update after just having installed something I can see the point of the way ToonTrack does it. It makes for a LOT smaller update download than having to download a multi-gigabyte file all over again. It’s also a lot easier on the developer. Say you downloaded and installed something and updated it. And then comes an update down the line. With Toontrack’s way you’re not downloading a multi-gigabyte file. And that makes it easier on the end user.
