That’s the problem we all know and had when first using SD with an e-drum. No one has a ever posted a solution why superior behaves this way. When you open your midi monitor you will see that even the incoming notes with 127 volume don’t sound like a click on the drum in superior. If you are using a td-30, you only have positional sensing on the snare drum. If you want PS on every pad, you need something like the e-drumin module. On this “Midimodule” and its software you are able to adjust PS to every drumpad.
If you want to get some good advice and help, look for Luke Oswald on Youtube. He has done a workshop with exactly setup like yours!!!

Thanked by: Cesar ValdezHi,
your set will not respond as you expect as long as you don’t have the right hardware in front of SD3. Positional sensing is the key. But as far as I know, only the snare has positional sensing. Thats the reason why your snare reacts to 3 zones and the Tom’s don’t. How shall SD get the zone information when your Drumbrain doesn’t send any? Please tell us your hardware setup in front of SD.

Thanked by: Cesar ValdezHi I guess that your midiplayer isn’t mapped the right way when playing back the superior miditrack. I mean they don’t speak the same language .

Thanked by: LobstafariHi, my tip is to use gigperformer. I use it and you are able to load several instances which ca be recalled by midi if you like. You can set up complete shows if you like. Great tool!!!! And it is really quick, no boting loading times. Just give it a try. As far as i know you can check it for a short period for free.
Cheers, Ilja
Quick update . . . . I finally purchased Gig Performer when it was discounted a few weeks ago over at Plugin alliance for around 70 bucks.
No big deal, but it is worth it. You can create several rigs that you line up for your show and the loading time is lightning fast, because your sets are preloaded.
That’s exactly what I was looking for. Toontrack won’t build such a function to SD3 I think. Let’s think it over . . . to get what you want, your kits in everey special way, need to be preloaded to be fast. How much RAM do you want to pack into your computer for lets say 15 sets you designed?
And in Livesituations you need very fast loadingtimes.
Best wishes to you all out there and stay healthy in this weird times!!!
Hi Guys,
Brad is right and it is the only way you can get, a workaround.
I’ve tried several ways even with Mainstage etc., but never found a good and stable running Solution.
The other thing is, that you need a Host where you can preload your sets, because other ways you always have to wait until the next set ist finally loaded.
Let me know when you found a good solution, because I’m still dreaming of a system where I can use different sets live on stage for my edrums.
Cheers Ilja
Hi Erich,
as far as I know you are able to save your custom mapping sets on the mapping page.
But it is really quite strange that your mapping changes by choosing another default kit in SD3. . . .
Yes, you better do so, because when I decided to update, it was the bundle with NY Studio 1 (Avatar).
I asked Toontrack if it was possible to get another SDX instead because it made no sense, but they denied to do this.
Hi!
If you updated from SD 2.0 to SD3 you should keep an eye on what you buy, because you already bought one of those three already as a Sd2.0 user 😉

Hi Thorsten,
as far as I know there is no possibility of changing setups via MIDI. I did a lot of research because I also wanted to use SD3 live on stage. There are some possibilities using other programs to control all this, depends on which platform you’re Mac or Windows.
MAC: Mainstage, Live Professor, Gig Performer, or any kind of DAW like Reaper, Ableton, Logic etc.
windows: Bloxpander (really worth to take a look at) and other DAWs like those above
The biggest Problem will be the Performance of your Computer (RAM). Most of the Programs load the different instances (Sets) into the RAM to give you the ability to change between the different sets quite quickly. Few RAM means few Sets, big RAM means a lot of sets. There are so many things to consider in the world of using VST in a Livesituation . . . . .
Your First name sounds german, so if you are interested in more informations . . . . It’s easier for me to write in german 🙂
you can contact me via PM if this exists here.

That‘s why the MimicPro is selling like hell with the slate products.
I recieved mine a few days ago and just by hearing some of the sounds over my headphone makes my heart go boom!
I will let you know my experiences in a few month if you want.
Cheers, Ilja
stay healthy y’all
Hi Paul,
you can’t export the whole Set. You can export one shot samples when you use a DAW. The kits in the TD-50 are also multilayered to get a more realistic dynamic for your playing. If you want to play your SD3 on a live gig without using a computer, the only way I know is to use a Drumit5 for example. There is a Software which is able to convert your VST Sounds to import it to the drumit module. But . . . it will not sound 100% like your VST Drum out of the software, because it get’s played back by the module. There are lots of videos out there that show off what is possible with the drumit module and how it sounds.
I’m still waiting for Toontrack doing a cooperation like Slate did with Pearl and the MimicPro. Maybe there will be a way with the GEWA G9 . . . . the guys at GEWA recorded the sound also in Hansa Studios as far as I know. Or create a System like the old Muse Receptor, but with new up to date Hardware to handle those massive libraries.
Cheers Ilja
Hi!!!
How do you send your Midisignal to SD3? The TD-20 has no USB-Port. Is the incoming SD3-Midisignal equal to other Midisignal like in Nuendo or another VST? Are you using it in a DAW or Solo?
Cheers Ilja
