Ha! No worries… all interesting stuff… I discovered reason enough to stick with SD3.

I really appreciate the thoughtful responses. Love SD3 and the SDXs I own — which cover a lot of ground. Most recent pickups – Stories and State of the Art – are amazing. Love the flexibility and control. Love the quality. I’ll stick with SDXs. Oh
and though I live in Starbucks’ hometown of Seattle, I drink all my coffee at home – no $8 coffees for me! 😁

No, there is no manual control over this. EZbass comes sampled with, and is automatically using, the notes that sounds best for each tone!

    Hi Henrik,

This is one of the features I’ve been wondering about since EZBass’ announcement.  As Clownizm says, this is a pretty standard feature in any bass sample VI.

When you say, “EZbass comes sampled with, and is automatically using, the notes that sounds best for each tone” – how does Toontrack or EZBass know whether I prefer the sound of an A note on the open A string, or on the 5th fret of the E string, for a given song or song part I’m working on?  Or what about if I specifically want to play the 15th fret of the D string instead of the 10th fret of the G string?

Please don’t misconstrue the tone of my question, I’m not trying to sound combative at all.  I’m just wondering about the decision behind leaving this functionality out, and whether we can put it on a feature request list for a future version.  I have to admit I’m a little surprised this was left out, only because of the incredible level of detail in so many other facets of this plugin.  Aside from this feature omission, this is an amazing plugin.

Let me say, I think EZB is amazing. I agree the forced string feature would be welcomed as an option. If users are looking for easy, they don’t have to engage it, just like the other options that are available if you want to use them; otherwise, just let the programming do its thing. Forced string is a very, very basic function/techique for a bass player.
In a way, if it’s new users who need things simple to get started, they could “graduate” into using it if they want once they get comfortable. A ton of us have been using EZB for years and would use it immediately.

A huge thank you to Victor and John, problem solved.

The notes’ lengths were such that they were “touching” each other’s velocity stave.

    Many thanks again,

    J

As a favor to the community, you might label this as solved so others dealing with this same issue might be helped.

A friendly reminder that the manual is a great place to learn all the basics. 😎

    Hi,

you can’t rename Blocks on the SD3 Song Track but it has been requested by several users here on the Forum, so I’m pretty certain it’s on the “wish list”.

Please feel free to drop a line in the Requests & Feedback section about both feature requests.

    BR,
    John

A moment of silence please as we approach the 5-year anniversary of this repeated request. đŸ€«

Velocity doesn’t have anything to do with speed of picking, if that’s what you’re trying to control. Velocity has to do with how hard the string is struck by the finger or pick.

What you can do rather than replace the kit piece entirely, is stack the kit piece on top of the existing kit piece and then mute the ambient channels of the stacked piece and the close mic channels of the original kit piece. Blend to taste. That will give it a bit more similarity with the room you’re in.

This is a great suggestion for all of us trying to mix kit pieces into a preset kit from other presets. Two thumbs up!

Did you check the note velocity? Is it outside the instrument’s playable area?

If you own EZ Drummer 2, they offer 3 for $99 in your account. But no discount from owning SD3. Strange situation. SD3 seems like the flagship product, but EZD3 offers newer features SD3 lacks. Obviously an arm twist to make you buy both if you want the cooler workflow features of EZD3.

I don’t understand why you are wanting to control the plugin transport. If it’s in your DAW, you should have follow host enabled.

    jord

Because when I’m first creating my keyboard/bass/drum lines, I tend to work within the plugin itself and just want to hear that alone.  I guess the workaround is to just use the DAW transport control for the plugin (using follow host) and “solo” the particular EZ instrument once the grooves are in the song track.

If your EZ instrument is in focus, SHIFT + SPACEBAR will play just the instrument if that’s what you want.

Very helpful video, thanks for that.

Shootie also has a great vid specifically on the percussion library in Stories, which I also just bought. Call it “Must See” Shootie! He definitely makes the best TT videos. Thankful for Shootie.

I have posted a feature request.

    https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/feature-request-enharmonically-shift-in-ezkeys2/

This issue has bugged me for a while. I followed SAM-38 link and added my support to the request. The more ‘up votes’ the more likely it is to get attention.
