Well it fixed it for me, using a VH-14D and a TD-50, I reduced it to 10% and I can get clean pedal closed notes
Well, it depends on the speed of stepping. No chance on fast stepping π
What I do want to be able to do is a fast cymbal roll on the hi-hat and gradually lift the pedal all the way up and then gradually close it all the way down to generate a foot chick (or closed pedal note) with a continuous roll. When I do this I want to have a relatively smooth transition from fully closed to fully open and then again a smooth transition back to fully closed. Is this likely to give a smooth transition or is it always going to sound like an electronic replication of a hi-hat due to the βsharpβ transition that occurs at whatever CC value generates the next articulation.
You’ll have these sharp CC border points in SD3 (there are no crossfades between open-closed stages). Check out Ableton Live multi mic drum kits in AL “Sampler” -> you’ll have smooth crossfades there (and it’s the only hihat engine I’ve ever seen with crossfades (that are even adjustable)).
Just need something thatβs fully compatible and plug and play.
I need to play like as close to a real set as possible without a full acoustic set.
Mark King is absolutely right when he says that you will always have to tweak. Only way out: you’ll have to outsource the tech thing if you don’t want to have anything to to with it. I can be your SD3-e-drum tech and tweak and optimize things after your preferences. π You can check out my Software Drumming FB group. So there is a way to get the carefree package without any long learning.
i really like the 50βs but donβt know if I need that much e-drum.
The TD-50 or -27 + the digital pads (snare, hihat, ride) will be a huge benefit along with SD3. You can have the most realistc triggering with it (i.e. a Hihat L-R distinction and a Hihat Bell and Soft-Ride-Choking): the trigger translation in terms of velocity details + Positional Sensing + Hot Spot suppression will be superior (and that all matches Superior Drummer 3) π
Hey Andrew, the new implemented SD3 features resolve the transition issue (there are 2 fix options: absolutely no transitions and transitions only from close to open).
But youβll still need my transition fix (when using Roland or Yamaha modules) in order to get rid of ringing on fast pedal stepping (the new βsplash sensitivityβ setting cannot fix it) and maintain the option of being able to play Pedal Splashes. π
Also, there is no mute on open sounds when the pedal reaches fully closed state but hasn’t generated a Pedal Chick note (which will be the case at least on Roland modules when softly closing the hihat / softly depressing the pedal). You’ll get this “mute feature” using my fix engine.
Iβm not exactly sure if this is the same problem but my Hi-hat always stays open when using the Alesis drum kit setting. I also use the Alesis Surge. Any fix to this? Edit. If I set it to None, everything works fine BUT hitting the side of the Toms makes a crash symbol sound. So I can either play with no Hi hat or no Side Toms.
I can fix all your mapping issues and also the AIesis-Medeli cymbal choke bug (if you want to go without e-drum presets – what I highly recommend in order to maintain the ability to reach all EZX kit piece articulations and to have the reliable mapping that is shown in the kit piece slots) π
Try the new e-drum presets. AFAIK there are some addressing this Medeli module bug.
And if you want to go without e-drum presets (what I highly recommend in order to maintain the ability to reach all EZX kit piece articulations and to have the reliable mapping that is shown in the kit piece slots) you can fix it using a special Medeli/(Alesis) cymbal choke workaround. π
You’ll still need the transition fix in order to get rid of ringing on fast pedal stepping (the new “splash sensitivity” setting cannot fix it) and maintain the option of being able to play Pedal Splashes. π
Can look into your issue and dial you in. Get in touch via FB if interested. π
The zendrum doesnβt send a midi note when I press the pedal,
It won’t work if there is no Pedal Chick note. You could use an Audiofront Midi Expression device instead π
Hey man, did you fix it? Iβm getting the same noisy sound when I try lower buffer levelsβ¦
Forget poor hack Asio4All and get a capable audio interface.
Can someone please help me optimize this somehow? Is there a way to increase the trigger volume for example?
Yes, there is a way: check out the EZDr2 Hihat Fix π ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/579177292995927/permalink/678304696416519/ )
Sure, at least EZDrummer v1 π
I use a high quality phone amp which sounds superbly and provides super high volumes when needed. Here you can read about my gear chain: https://www.facebook.com/groups/579177292995927/posts/842574233322897/ π
If the audio stream is still ok after midi stopped working (check by mouse-clicking on SD3 kit pieces): Try a different USB cable for the midi connection. Still the same? -> Try to connect MIDI DIN 5 pin to a decent midi interface (I recommend Roland UM-One MK2).
