I’m not sure why you are using all those extra MIDI utilities…..If you don’t need them for anything else I’d get rid of them as they may be complicating things.

The Yamaha kit will work fine….you shouldn’t take it back as you may have the same problems with the Alesis.

In solo go to options> MIDI devices and tick the UM1G (you’ve definitely got the MIDI version not the audio?).  As long as  you have the MIDI output of your yamaha connected to the MIDI input on your UM1G everything should work….If you verify that you’ve done these things and it’s still not working we can take things from there.

On the subject of Support and access; you don’t make it easy for us to find you in the database when you register under another name than is tied to your products, Mr. Dirrt Dawg.
Please send me an email with your real name and the email address that wouldn’t register when you created this ID. You already have a Forum ID (with Support Forum access), created when you registered your product(s) and created the Toontrack account.

EZD-1 on “faders” on LHS MIDI device=”UM-1G
should MIDI channel be set to 12 (default in Yamaha?) or left at “Omni” ?
mouse-click a tom etc. and sounds like EZD ie. good

use stick on real tom and nothing, no blue MIDI notification
do I need to install a USB-MIDI Yamaha driver WDM ?
    Yamaha brain set to shift-drumkit ; trigger1 ; #5 “user trig”
clearly nothing is getting pastout of the yamaha
Cakewalk MIDI driver shows up but seems to be doing zero

on a Mac, if I open garageband and add in EZD, pads now trigger sounds but from the Yamaha it seems not EXD

Are you positive you are getting MIDI from your module into the computer?
If you are and follow Damian’s advice above, i.e.: use Toontrack solo, check under Options>MIDI Devices that your MIDI interface is listed and checked, you should trigger EZdrummer.
Next, you should make sure you have selected Options>Controller>E-drums to trigger the correct notes and get the best hihat performance.

yeah you’re correct. I swapped out the Cakewalk UM1G Midi-USB for an M-Audio Sport, hooked up a regular MIDI cable and low and behold Toon Solo + EZD triggered from the kit. Hallehloiah (sp) ! Cakewalk does not play nice with Win7 64 bit and got into a uninstallinstall loop when I downloaded their Win7 driver.

Thanks guys ! Always something simple. Is it normal to have a 1 second latency between the drum kit (Yamaha DTXplorer) ? & software ? I have ASIO4All installed.

No,that’s too much. Check the H/W Buffer Size in Options. Lower the value to as low as possible without getting crackles/dropouts.
