Wow! Sounds great) Guitars are little bit fizzzy may be, but they are METAL ones. What did you use for guitar tracking?

    Why thanks man 🙂

Well it’s a learning curve, guitars could still have a touch too much top end, it’s a bit of a mix and match with EQ’s, what did you mean by tracking? do you mean what preamps did we use?

Yeah. I dig it. Nice writing.
I like your use of the reverb (or delay) with the guitars in this tune.
Thanks for letting us hear it!
    Take care

Hi Scott, I often see your comments thanks for the feedback, which delay are you hearing on the guitars is it for the intro?

Anything overall on the mix that’s fatiguing the ol’ lobes?

Gonna put up some more tracks and developments of this mix so curious to know now what direction to turn 🙂

    Regards

The first reverb (and / or delay) I’m referring to is @ (apprx) 01:38
It’s not a BIG part of the tune – it was just something that caught my ear the first time I listened to it.
As for fatiguing – the tune sounds really good – but there may be a little too much pumpin on the drums (IMHO).
    But it still sounds kewl.
    Take care

Ah i gotcha, yeah well actually that was just recorded left and right and swelling in on the volume pot on the gweetar.

so no delay apart from typical lead post-type delay.

As for the mix pumpin’ that’s one i’m struggling with, i’m trying to get in on the loudness game but it’s trying to get that initial signature mix before the master that’s really taking the time. I also seem to have a hellish 2/2.5k spike that i can’t seem to get rid of it’s more of an overtone/harmonic, any ideas how to remove harmonics by band?

Thanks again for the feedback Scott very help indeed 🙂

If you have the time check out our myspace and see what you think of this master compared to the one that’s up there see which one maybe works for ya, we’re finding that even with the best analyzers it’s still tough to get the mix solid on a greater number of systems.

    Take it easy buddy

Ibanez 7620’s Sansamp PSA1, boss GX-700, and then voxengo pristine running a couple of recabinet impulses followed by some EQ and compression, pretty simple i think, what makes you ask?

It sounds really cool and in concept of genre) Many use to play through line 6 PODs but your guitars sounds like “MICED”
So this was the recabinet magic))) I use recabinet sometimes with send-return to make some life and air when using POD)))) am just mix impulse guitars a little with basic pod guitars that sounds lifeless) and it makes to kill fizzzenesss
Next time i want to buy redwirez impulses) everybody very happy with them)

Wow that’s some great mixing/production. Very cool song with wild structure to it, I love the Katatonia-ish sound @ 2:03-2:13(Katatonia’s production on their latest is incredible-love that band). I really like that gnarly bass tone too. I would only say maybe it could be condensed a little bit.

First thing I would do is start sweeping with an exaggerated bell on the EQ.
Once you have pinned the frequency – go ahead and shape it up / down.
But that’s just what I would do to get started … there are some other things you can do after you’ve got the problem child identified.

    Hi Scott,

Actually I started doing that I found fab-filter pro Q seems to be great at just selecting a freq boosting it like a stupid 30db and moving it to where i could get an overtone that was quite frankly horrendous and then cutting it, the only prob I’m having is how to get the overall sound back up to fitting with anything after I’ve done that – ooo it’s a fun learning curve 🙂

    @ The Now,

Thanks for the kind words I’ve started amping up the bass a touch more in the mix and just let that and the kicks fight it out, what did you mean by saying it could be condensed a bit?

Thanks again all, gonna put another track up today all being well, looking forward to seeing what you guys think 🙂

I just mean shortening the arrangement by a minute or so might be beneficial.

    Take care.
