The second input on midi track erases the first

Hi. When I’m inputing drums on my Oxygen8 keyboard the second input erases the first. Eg, I put down a bass and Snare, but when I return to the start and try to input the Hi/Hats on the same midi track, the bass and snare are erased. My host is Pro Tools 8.1. Any suggestions? Thanks Nigel.

That’ll be a ProTools setting.
I’m not very familiar with ProTools so…

…but you’ll probably be looking for something along the lines of “overdub” for MIDI in the help files.

Nevermind… found it in the Pro Tools Reference Guide
Page 355, “Record Modes and MIDI” — you’re looking for “MIDI Merge”.
It’s worth reading that section of the manual for more info too.

Yes,

Make sure you have clicked the MIDI Merge button on the Transport to be able to overdub.
