The second input on midi track erases the first

    That’ll be a ProTools setting.
    I’m not very familiar with ProTools so…

    hopefully someone else can answer better! 😀

    …but you’ll probably be looking for something along the lines of “overdub” for MIDI in the help files.

    Nevermind… found it in the Pro Tools Reference Guide
    Page 355, “Record Modes and MIDI” — you’re looking for “MIDI Merge”.
    It’s worth reading that section of the manual for more info too.

    Yes,

    Make sure you have clicked the MIDI Merge button on the Transport to be able to overdub.
