    Hi Craig,

The easiest way to set up your hihat is to ensure you have the latest version of Superior installed (2.2.1), go to the ‘mapping’ tab, at the bottom above the virtual keyboard you will find the MIDI presets dropdown.  from the menu go to MIDI>note mapping> then select ‘edrums’.  This will map the hihat notes correctly.  You may also want to try a ‘pedal correction’ preset found in the same MIDI preset menu.

Grandaddy,  thanks a bunch.  I have all 3 hi-hat controls triggering now.  However, the open position is WAY quieter than the closed position.  Any ideas on that?  Also, I chose “edrums” under the midi menu as you suggested.  Was curious as to if I should be choosing “Superior” if I am running the custom & vintage samples?  Thanks again!!

You can adjust the individual articulation volumes on the main construct page.  In the bottom right hand corner you’ll find the ‘instrument’ pane, select ‘hats’ from the ‘instrument’ dropdown and from the ‘articulation’ dropdown select whichever ‘open’ hit(s) you want louder.   Make sure you click on the ‘edit articulation only’ button and then adjust the fader, in the same pane, to the required level…

Trust me, if you are playing with edrums you want the edrum preset…..the ‘Superior’ MIDI preset is the legacy default MIDI mapping from the original Superior….give it a try by all means but you’ll likely get a tom on your snare, cymbals on your toms etc etc

Ok, good start.  I am getting closer.

When I strike an open hi-hat on my pad, it does not sound like the open hi-hat preview in the construct page (clicking the speaker in the bottom right corner box).  My pad sounds very weak, and almost like it’s not playing the correct sample.  Perhaps the mapping is a bit askew?

    Hi,

I’ve been using a TD-9 module with an FD-7 Hat pedal and have never been able to get my Hat pedal functioning correctly. It opens and closes right a couple of times and then will only play open hits until I open and close it again a bunch of times. I hold it down and start playing a beat then it just starts playing open hits. happens in Sonar and in Toontrack Solo. It works properly in my module. It also does the same thing running midi through my Focusrite 2i4 as well as my el cheapo midi to usb cable I had before that. I tried the mapping preset using the Roland setting and it still does it. Any ideas?

If you record in Sonar while playing, can you see that the controller data “gets stuck” after a while?
