Hi,
I’m really enjoying using Superior software however I have a few suggestions.
1) X-Drum midi option for ‘join/copy default’
Having the drop down options for ‘steal default/second position/current’ is a great time saver, but it’d be even better if there was also a ‘join with default/current’ for stacking up sounds more quickly when using x-drums with multiple articulations.
Its totally possible to do this manually of course but maybe an option to just choose from the x-drum midi drop down to save you the time would be nice. I sometimes find I want to have two snares and blend the sounds, or route out to my daw and automate the volumes of each – e.g. to fill out the sound for a chorus etc. I realise there’s a preset for stacking snares in midi mapping but just a general option to ‘join default/current’ in the x-drum menu would be very helpful.
Following on from this – an option for the default (non x-drum) drum to steal back its midi from the s2.0 front page, instead of having to go to mapping->midi->default (thus restoring all midi defaults) would be helpful too.
2) Search box for groove tab. Or alternate organisation options.
I realise this might be a lot of work to do as there are a lot of grooves available and they’d probably need ‘tagged’ to be searchable but even something really simple would be helpful. Even an alternate way of organising the midi, for example
by time signature – 4/4, 3/4, 6/8 etc and also swing feel.
by type – I guess packs are arranged very differently but even just an ‘all fills’ option to search would be really helpful. verse/chorus etc is so subjective but fills are distinguishable and they are already organised separately in many packs.
by intended tempo – in 10 or 20bpm brackets. Again this is so subjective as many beats will work so well at different tempos without needing adjustments but it would be nice to trial beats intended for the kind of tempo you’re writing at.
By the time you own a few SDX/EZXs and a few midi packs (just bought the Platinum Samples Bobby Jarzombeck and Steve Ferrone packs today, they’re both great) its a lot of midi to sort through when looking for something! Different ways of organising it would make it quicker for non-drummers who rely on these midi packs to make drum tracks.
Thank you for reading, if anyone has any comments on my ideas please make them.
