Well apparently my good old DT4Express does not send aftertouch signals
So there goes the ‘choking’ plans I guess.
Will sort out when I get the DTX950 ( shortly?)

But I still need ‘swell’ assistance please

I have been advised that there is info about this at Youtube in the ‘loads’ of videos on SD available there.

    I certainly cant see it.

Can anyone point me to those video’s at least
Specifically the one that covers swells

can you be more specific about the info you need regarding swells?

… guessing wildly what may help you, typically you would smooth out the attack on a ‘note ON’ message in the envelope section (see manual for detailed operation), using either a dedicated cymbal trigger (or a dual zone if your module supports it – not sure if it does). And yes that would be loading an X-drum with the relevant cymbal if you want to same sound as a non altered cymbal in your kit.

    Thanks Rogue,

Ok I am trying to ‘lose’ that initial hard hit sound when you strike the cymbal constantly ( ride the edge as you would in an acoustic situation ) to create that ‘continual’ sound WITHOUT hearing each individual hit as well as the constant swell sound running ( gee I hope this makes sense as I am hopeless at explaining things  )

I am triggering SD2.0 (with 2.2 updates installed ) via a Yamaha DT4Express module and using PCY135 3 zone cymbals.

    Unsure if this helps further…

    OK,

but won’t selecting the Edge articulation only and edit the Attack in the Envelope suffice?

hum, are you referring to a library soon to be released John 😉
… apart from the rides there is only one articulation per cymbal at this point, so an X-drum would be required.

I am trying to ‘lose’ that initial hard hit sound when you strike the cymbal constantly ( ride the edge as you would in an acoustic situation ) to create that ‘continual’ sound WITHOUT hearing each individual hit as well as the constant swell sound running

I’m not sure I understand whether you want cymbal swells or to ride your crashes… for the former raising the voice limit of your x-drum may help create a more realistic effect, for the later a smaller value than the default in addition to or instead of shaving the samples tail (release) *may* help define the sound. If you want to be able to do both, experiment with everything mentioned herein and see what works best for you.
