I’m using 3 HD’s. One for the OS, another for projects and a third for samples. Moving samples to a different drive than the OS will indeed increase performance.

    Thanks.

Sorry, I’m new to VST software. I just purchased SD2 and Metal Foundry. So by saying move your ‘samples’ to another drive are you referring to installing the entire SD2/MF discs onto a separate drive or just their ‘samples’?

Also, ‘another drive’ meaning not a partition but physically another HD, correct? Thanks

Yes it has to be a different physically harddisk. Make sure to install the plugin to the directory required by your host (please fill in your system details in your profile) and install the sound library on the different harddisk. This is indeed not a partition.

    Thanks Harry.

I will put the sound library on the external HD.

Sorry, just to clarify. By ‘plugin’ do you mean SD2 and/or MF? And ‘host’ meaning my Operating System?(OS X) When I go to install SD2 and MF will it stop to give me the option to install just the sound library to the external HD?

Oops, I can’t help you with OSX I’m on Windows. That’s why it’s important to fill in your system details. In your original question you did not mention your OS etc.

Plugin is indeed SD2 that you load in your host (Cubase, ProTools).
