    Well yes, you’re correct — you can find toms that don’t ring, but for me, that kind of defeats the purpose. Might as well just make a generic, no-name pack without all the bells and whistles. If I want to use a Sonor kit, I want to use a Sonor kit — not mix toms from four different manufacturers and libraries just to get the right tom sound, just to exaggerate my point. And what about those who don’t want to buy a bunch of expansions just to find toms that don’t ring?

    Then use something like Superior Drummer, where you can control the envelope of the toms. There is no generic one-size-fits-all. Drum recording is as individual as the producers themselves. You need to align yourself with one that suits your song best.
